Killie fan at work is very shocked by this, apparently they've not been that bad and fans were behind him

Surprising. Thought they were doing pretty well. Wonder if it'll take them 7 weeks to appoint someone else like all big clubs do

Wonder who’ll get this gig, Holt?If they're looking for someone whose on an 11 game winless streak but is popular with beer drinkers in Barnsley I know just the man for the job.

He might even have heard of Kilmarnock.

Craig Levein next?

I know their form has dipped recently but that's a bizzare decision. What do they expect? They lost a highly successful manager and most of their best players yet they're sitting 5th in the league.

November and December form reads DWDLLLD with games against Hibs, Hearts, Hamilton, Aberdeen, Ross County, Livingston and St Johnstone.

They were absolutely woeful against us for 65 minutes and by all accounts were even worse v Livingston in a 3-0 loss. There's also been rumours about issues with the players so maybe not as surprising as it first appears.

Must be unrest behind the scenes. That isn't sacking form.

Maybe he threw a chair at Kris Boyd. They'd have the jaws of life out desperately trying to remove it from his belly even now.

I'm surprised by that, bad run of form but realistically what are they expecting?

Given their size last year was a once in a blue moon event, top 6 is an achievement in itself.

Wouldn't surprised me if we get complaints over the training regime that isn't up to the standards of the "start at 9 finish by 12 off on the piss" lads that usually follow the sacking of a foreign coach.

The worst hour of football I have seen from a top league team at ER for decades. They were atrocious.

A club has to be realistic and surely being 6th is as much as Kilmarnock can have expected this season.
Sounding like a change for reasons other than form.
Sad and expensive action.

Ok they had a purple patch punching above their weight with Steve Clarke but must have delusions of grandeur to get rid of a guy who had every chance of keeping them in the top six.

Think they’d need to pay a fee, unless he has a clause in his contract

Not necessarily, they might be glad to get him off the payroll given the losses they have this season so far....

What would the clause be? That Hearts have to let him go should Kilmarnock offer him his dream job on less money?

Gary Holt would be a good fit for them . Heard some fans saying they want a more defensive manager

I think hearts would bite their hand off.
Think the penny has dropped that he will be injured for most of his 4 year contract.
Would free up a large chunk of money.

That's actually an interesting suggestion. I think he gave a return there serious consideration when he came back to Scotland but opted for a bigger final pay day at Hearts.

According to the always sage resource that is Pie & Bovril [] the senior "Scottish" players were seriously unhappy with his training methods which included [shock] no alcohol, strict diet, curfews [etc] as well his tactical discipline training which involved a little more than running to Tesco's from the "training ground", have a full breakfast, and then running back - actual Bomber Brown Clyde era method :greengrin

Tittle-Tattle aside: My own personal opinion, which no one cares about, is he was always doomed to fail. Connah result notwithstanding, the knives were out for him from day one 'cos he was a flash foreigner with ideas and we all know what happens to them in our goldfish bowl.

Source: - Every MSM article other than: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50152357 written by a well known Killie fan.

File under: Ronny Delia, Paul Le Guen, Wim Jansen, Ebbe Skovdahl, Marcio Maximo, every Yam "coach" and Le God :not worth as well as Vogts. The same will happen with Danny Boy. Scottish football is so cripplingly insular in terms of coaching.

Has there ever been a successful continental coach/manager in Scottish football?

Who next for the mighty Killie... Hecky? :greengrin

They were garbage a few weeks ago for over an hour and never looked like getting anything until our implosion in the final 25 minutes.

Really? I thought they were one of the poorest teams we have played all season. We absolutely played them off the park for the first 65-70 mins and should deservedly have had the game won early doors.

Would free up a large chunk of money. That was my thinking when the poster mentioned his name.

If he and Killie want him to go, tear up his contract or get some compo from Killie and let him go. Win-Win, but especially good deal for Hearts. He's not adding anything to them as it stands.

2-0 down away from home against a team in decent form is a bit different from us clawing back an embarrassment at home against Livi.

Even though he's injured most of the time he has been in the Scottish squad. Doubt he would want to give that up yet. He couldn't play international football as a manager.

Killie were above us in the league as were Livi when we played them. I would say there wasn't a huge difference in examples.

Maybe player/asst manager role beside Holt. He does have an affinity with them. Obviously there is his no doubt exorbitant 4 year contract to give up on. Stranger things have happened and it's a win for us as they lose their only decent player. Stendel might have a very long early decision to make.

To be fair to Hecky as well, Livi were barely in the game yet found themselves 0-2 up with 2 goals in a couple of minutes. They had a wee bit of pressure but we were very comfortable up until that point.

Second half was all Hibs.
