Off to a flyer with the games tonight. All the games were decent, but the final match between MVG and Klassen was the highlight. There was no handshake at the start or at the end, they obviously don’t like each other and MVG confirmed that in his interview. Klassen could and should be a top ten player, but he misses to many doubles.
Ive got a feeling that this will be one of the best world championships for a long time.

It seemingly goes back to 2012 when Klaasen was fined and given community service for sending naked pictures of himself to a 15 year old family friend.

I never knew about that.

Not relevant to the current championships but is it correct the WDF have withdrawn all support and recognition for the BDO and de facto stripped them of their position as the governing body of darts, including county darts, in the UK?

I read the story but wasn't sure if I was misunderstanding. I know the decision to move their world championships has been a disaster.

I didn’t really understand it either. I’d heard of the WDF, but I still don’t really know what their role in darts is. The BDO needs to concentrate on the amateur side of darts and leave the professional side of things to the PDC.

Perhaps significant that the 15k that Sherrock won for winning a first round match at the PDC Worlds is the biggest sum ever won by a woman and that includes winning the women's Worlds in the BDO.

19-12-2019, 10:27 PM
Gerwyn Price scrapes through in bizarre circumstances. His opponent William O'Connor needed double 2 to win the leg but miscounted and went for double 1 instead. Price then broke him and then won the next leg to win the match.

I don't think I've ever seen that in a professional match before!

As darts throws off the last claims of machismo, this girl really has the crowd on her side, and who ever eventually beats her will have to content with a partisan crowd as well as her obvious ability. In an ideal world, i would like to see her beat Gerwin Price who while being the Ice Man , also has turbo-charged Wee-Man syndrome.

Searle lost that rather than Anderson won it. Don't think that Gary is a serious contender this year and maybe will be happy to get through the next game and write it off as a decent effort considering his circumstances.

Delighted for Wright, finally cracked it in a major final against MVG and picked the perfect time to do it, at the Worlds. Always good to see one of the good guys win. Also means that the first world champion of the decade in any sport is a Scot.

I stopped watching a couple of years ago due to idiots like him and Gurney. Not a fan of Van Gerwen either.

It seems a bit unnecessary to stop watching the sport completely just because of one or two players. Obviously Price is an **** hole but you can always just skip their matches, you're missing out on some good tv?

In any case, I think it will be interesting to see what happens with Price from here, there's no hope of him ever repairing his reputation after this one and the crowds will make his life hell more than ever now wherever he goes.

It's hard to win darts matches when the crowd are on your back ever time you're throwing for a double. Should be fun to watch.

Price is angry or frustrated at someone or something. Although darts has the pantomime villain aspect, he has let this aggressive persona define him and it won't do him any good.
