I see Jim is 80 years young on 20 December. Wonder if the club are planning to invite him to the Rangers game?

After watching last nights highlights maybe they should ask Jim to step in on Saturday!

Just echoing the comments already made.

Two quirky things about Jim that some of the younger posters may not know.

1 The series of books and TV series about a Yorkshire vet called "All Creatures Great and Small" was written by someone who took his pen name directly from Jim. Apparently he was watching him play in goals for Birmingham City(?), heard his name mentioned on the telly and thought it would be a good name to use.

2 Jim was ahead of his time with the use of boot polish on his cheek bones during floodlit games to stop any reflection into his eyes.
Looked a bit weird at first, but soon there were many other goalies copying this.

Always remember Jim in a black outfit for some reason, but have seen a few photos with him in yellow.

Undisputed number 1 in the best Hibs team of my living memory.

80! God that ages me. He was very athletic as Dunfermline goalie in the sixties.

One of my early heroes. Those plain goalie jerseys, mud under the eyes and no gloves!! Big respect Jim. Happy birthday!!
