Have a few of James books which typically are unread on the shelf.

I haven't even read Dante's poem itself never mind a translation!
I am embarrassed to disclose that i am a literary pygmy and as such it is highly unlikely i will get round to reading it before my own turn with the reaper arises.

Gutted especially about Clive James. It's worth watching him on YouTube driving a Trabant around 'East Berlin'. His phraseology wasn't always easy to have as background listening, but it was sheer poetry.

If you've got a copy of Unreliable Memoirs, read that. It's laugh out loud funny, he really was a gifted writer.

A gift that shone through even when he was writing TV reviews in the 1970s for the Sunday Times. The reviews were always way, way better than the programmes he was reviewing.
