No.

Or any cafe/bar or other attraction.

Plenty parking around so why is nothing open?

The club shop's never open on a Sunday unless there's a game on.

Pretty sure it opens on Sundays in the lead up to Christmas. Not sure when that starts though.

Quite right too, all shops should be closed on a Sunday.

Yup - tends to coincide with the four Sundays of advent, so the first opening will likely be Sunday 1 December this year

Yeah probably true I think that will just be for the couple of weeks leading up to Christmas though.

It might be an idea to start selling Hibs merchandise elsewhere, e.g. shops that are well located and open seven days.

I'd think that the shop would be busier at the weekend than it is during the week, so it would make more sense to have the shop open for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons with reduced opening hours during the week.

If shops closed on a Sunday, just about every retail business would be bust.

No, but if you go stand in the hearts shop on your phone, you'll likely get their managers gig.

Nonsense

They have to open now to retain their market share of customers, if no one opened there would not be an issue. Jenner’s resisted Sunday opening for a couple of years after every one else began to open, they then had to follow suit once every shop opened.

Specialist Butchers tend to shut on Sundays here as well. Probably ends the comparison with what we do here and what they do in France. Where do you buy your Sunday paper out of interest? Looked like millions of the buggers about last time I was there.

Looked like millions of the buggers about last time I was there.Newsagents are normally open until 2.00pm on Sundays, but it's also fairly common for bars to sell newspapers and fags and some (but not all) are open on Sunday afternoons.

As a smoker, one of the first things I learned on moving here was to make sure I didn't run out of cigarettes on a Sunday afternoon or evening. In the UK you get used to being able to buy fags and other stuff and any time of day or night, but it's simply not the case here.

Shops being shut on a Sunday makes a huge difference. There are obviously pros and cons, but one of the obvious effects is that families do stuff together on Sunday afternoons. Who'd've thunk it?

As for horse meat. You can buy it in supermarkets in areas where there's a demand for it but I've personally never seen it for sale either in a butcher/supermarket nor in restaurants.

Why should shops be closed on a Sunday Scouse?

Why should shops be closed on a Sunday Scouse? He'll no doubt answer you himself, but one reason is to avoid people being forced to work on Sundays.

I tend to agree.

Why should shops be closed on a Sunday Scouse?

Just my personal opinion really, I was involved in retail before the Sunday opening took place, the Sunday opening made a massive change to my life and took away the joy of getting to a Friday and having a family weekend together. A Sunday day out for families has now become a trip to the supermarket for many,. I realise it’s called progress and will never revert to as it was but for me with a young family it was a change I hated and would love to see reversed. It doesn’t affect me now as I work Mon -Fri but I feel for those who have no weekend time these days.

In Spain too. No trucks allowed on the motorway. Quite right everyone needs at least one day off.

No one is suggesting that, however getting your days off midweek when your children are at school isn’t great.

Germany and Austria have quite strict rules on Sunday Trading as well. I think there's only a few Sundays in the year when every shop can be open but some regions have less of those days than others (e.g. Bavaria).

They have the same rule on Truck Drivers (mentioned in an earlier post) as well.

I'm with Scouse on this one, as it must be a nightmare for people with kids having to work most weekends. OK. it's an inconvenience for people having less days for shopping but I'm sure they'd cope,

In Poland shops can only open on the last Sunday of the month although there are exemptions for small owner operated convenience stores.
