Hecky failed miserably in Scotchland with a big budget and a clutch English players. Not a good look for his CV and very little mitigating circumstances for him to fall back on. Expect he'll lie low for a few months to put some time between Hibs and his next move.

As is the term Hibs Class.

Not really bothered what he does next to be honest but don’t hold any grudges against him, he tried and failed, wasn’t the first and won’t be the last.

Not bothered.

I don't wish him any harm as a person but I don't care where he goes next.

One thing's pretty certain, he won't get near another job that's as big as Leeds or Hibs again.

The board were right to sack him and the fact that we have a new owner who wants to protect his investment, meant that he was not going to to be given another few games to turn it round. This might have been different a few years ago and might have been different at another club.
I hope he gets another gig soon.
Hibs was not the right job for him where thankfully bottom 6 is o longer acceptable, but he knows lower league English football and will do a job for someone.

16-11-2019, 09:34 AM
He'll end up coaching at a decent level. His coaching ability, based on the modern day standards, was never really in question. His ability to be proactive and reactive when managing a game was his downfall. As a coach he'll not have that responsibility.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him become part of a successful set up in the same way as the likes of Alex Miller and Ian Cathro have done.

I hope he does well wherever he goes. I also hope he learns the lessons he was slow to absorb here, because he might have another crack at management, but odds against i fear. However i reckon he’s best as a coach within a decent-sized club, as opposed to a public-facing figurehead, which is what managers have to be. Without the spotlight and press responsibilities i think looking after the youth/development teams he would flourish. All the best to him, he goes his way and we go ours.

He will have received a severance payment. Some folk are saying three months but that’s guesswork. He himself said that a managers worth is only the value of his severance package. Looks like he’s building a handy wee career out of severance packages. The only downfall is that the value of each package will probably decrease in proportion to the number of times he is sacked.

Weegreenman
16-11-2019, 12:41 PM
He made a complete mess of our club and he was pretty rigid in his formations and the tempo he wanted us to play.
He managed to upset one or two players along the way, failing to get the lads to fight hard for him.
I genuinely hope he takes up gardening in future.
We’re in a right sorry state and it’s doing.

Same. Looked so promising after sorting us out last season. Reckon we should be 9 points better off than we are this season but for stupid mistakes. Fine margins. Buck stops with the manager though. He'll be fine back down south and we are now in far better hands

Tbh time to move on from Hecky now. He probably doesn't give too hoots about Hibs now so don't think any of us should. He will have done well out of being sacked financially whilst many of us wouldn't if we got the boot from our day job.

PH by his own admission, didn’t intend to be a manager.

I think he knows he lacks the full required skillset and rode the train as far as it would go.

A respected coaching career beckons and I don’t think he’ll struggle for offers on the front.

He may have tried but his stubbornness would have taken us down also he was unable to learn from his own mistakes and fans were voting with their feet as the football was painful to watch.

The best game this season was the one just after he was sacked which sums up the last 6 months of him in charge.

I'll wish anyone who was employed by Hibs well unless they disrespect the club like Calderwood and Lennon did. They can gtf as far as I'm concerned. Some managers do well, some are hopeless but as long as they tried their best and treated the club with respect i can accept it. It's a tough gig.

It was clear that he wasn’t the right fit for us, and it was best for him to move on, but I certainly don’t wish the guy any ill. He gave us that win at Tynie - the standout highlight of last season, and he seemed like a genuinely good guy.
