It's been reported in the press its Potter, it may be why we haven't announced one yet as I think he's still contracted to Sunderland

I’m available.

My coaching approach consists of me standing in one place shouting ‘good work’ and / or ‘come on, more intensity’

I’m cheap too.

I think his name is Cromarty.

Every time I have heard Ross’s name mentioned, Cromarty gets a mention too.

Ross and Cromarty.

Could do worse than give Kevin Thomson his break into senior coaching

Wouldn’t mind someone internal at the club like Eddie May or Grant Murray getting a chance

Probably accurate, but a bit premature, somebody has up dated John Potter’s Wikipedia page.

Was talking to an ex player who played under John Potter at Dunfermline. He’s played under a few decent managers and reckons this guy is one of the best coaches in the game...

I knew John Potter 10 - 15 years or so ago - he’s an absolutely brilliant guy, a top bloke.

He was the first pro footballer I got to know reasonably well and it was great to talk football with him (he was still playing then). He held Hibs in high regard and around that time we dealt Dunfermline a couple of hidings and he said that Hibs were as good a team as they faced. He said that we were so strong because we were young, quick, fit and had threats from all over the park so you couldn’t just focus on stopping us one way.

As a senior player you could tell he was a leader and thought a lot about the game and he’s clearly taken that on into coaching.

I really hope it’s him.

^^Sounds promising.

Will take a bit getting used to saying Potter without an expletive before it.

1) Jack Ross 2) John Potter 3) David Gray

1) JR - Upcoming Manager deserves a chance.
2) JP - By all accounts good coach and makes training good for the players.
3) DG - He knows who’s pulling they’re weight and who’s playing the fool, he’ll know when to tell them as well, Hibs future manager..

Easiest formation in the league to work out.

Unless I heard wrong I believe Ian Murray is/was lined up to be Ross's assistant. He's doing a good job at Airdrie so maybe he's changed his mind. Murray of course was his boss at Dumbarton.

Signed a new 2 year deal with Airdrie 2 months ago and his team are top of their league.
Should stay where he is if he is ambitious. Coming back to Hibs as an assistant won't enhance his reputation as a manager.

Liking your assessment Smartie.:aok:

Hope you're right and he's not turned into an alkie since you met him!

Sunderland manager has confirmed Hibs have been in contact with them about John Potter. Also wished him all the best “if he does go”.

If JR doesn't bring a Bobby Ewing into that coaching set-up somewhere I''m going to be very, very disappointed. At managerial level these kitsch '80s reference opportunities only come along Once in a Lifetime...

Yip and we done it the proper way - asked for permission to speak to him and got it, even allowed him to say his goodbyes today whilst preparing his team for tomorrow's cup tie vs Gillingham before finalising the deal ...... Hibs class:hibees

Can't speak for Goalie. But I was talking to 2 guys on Sunday both big Dunfermline fans and 1 owns a Box Soccer franchise and both said he's a fantastic coach and an all round great guy. I also spoke to a guy last Thursday who's president of a youth football club in Fife and he said he was taking to potter last week before he was appointed Hibs assistant and he said he's a great coach and a brilliant guy. It's not often I get information on people who are at ER but these 3 I spoke to rate him highly.
