I reckon Hallberg has decent mobility that is being wasted in that role.

I’m not as convinced as most are that not playing 2 up top is our problem. Doidge gets the nod over Kamberi as I still think he will come good, you get a lot more effort out of Doidge, and he’ll win a lot more knock ons which Boyle and Middletons pace should be able to capitalise on.

Give Marciano the gloves back too.

When they have been hung out to dry by midfielders who refuse to run more than 10 yards backwards when we lose the ball. We have defended very badly as a team. The back 4 have been the least of our problems.

There was a stats report a month or so ago. Other teams are creating much more chances against us than last season. That comes from poor defending further up the pitch.

I think we’ll see a huge difference just by not playing Mallan somewhere he can’t play, that’s been our biggest problem. I have little belief that this will be sorted any time soon though as a new manager will identify him as a good player and try, unsuccessfully for a while, to accommodate him.

We’ve looked better with 2 up front though, so I think it’s a good idea for us to try to find a way to play this way. This hasn’t been our biggest problem though imo - it’s all about central midfield.

You defend in units and the midfield unit has been shocking defensively this year, there seems little organisation with certain players not doing the basics. Mistake letting Stirling go on loan, defensive minded midfielder who gives you that extra bit of midfield cover instead on me invisible Vela.

Team defending has been bad but look at the goals against celtic, james made no effort to tackle and let his man run past, hanlon was going for Olympic gold at diving in to tackles which left gaps in the middle, these are the basics and they were pretty bad at them. But as i say i agree the defending from the front has not been good enough but some players need to take responsibility for errors

You honestly can’t surly be trying to defend the defenders as the poster correctly said some of our defending has been shocking this season, Whitt’s Motherwell first goal Porto killi away are just 2 that spring to mind without even thinking. Marciano was at fault for some goals and defence were pish poor in some games, but equally your right there have been some really poor defensive play from the midfield aswell.

I’d rather have had Porteous in the team but not sure it would have changed much. He’s been as culpable as anyone lately.
