See Stuart Lovell is touting Stendel as the man to replace PH. Reading the article in the Scotsman it appears he plays attacking football and was sacked despite being highly thought of by the Barnsley fans.

We could do with some ruthless efficiency, steel, thorough organisation and getting the footbal bath towels all over the opposition's side of the pitch early doors every game.

Was it? I’d disagree.

Paul Heckingbottom:

Barnsley - W23 D23 L37 - Win% 27.71%
Leeds - W4 D4 L8 - Win% 25%

Daniel Stendel:

Hannover - W17 D9 L8 - Win% 50%
Barnsley - W31 D18 L17 - Win% 46.97%

Stendel looks way more impressive.

Although I agree with the point you’re making I hate win % being used either way in an argument.

Heckingbottom got his team promoted and played in a more difficult league, he’s clearly going to have a lower win %

What more difficult League? Stendel managed in the Bundesliga which is far higher than what Heckingbottom has managed in.

Both managers won promotion from League 1. Stendel’s Barnsley team played excellent attacking football and the Barnsley fans were gutted when he got the sack.

Yes he did. Managed last 6 games of the 2015/16 Bundesliga season. His results were pretty impressive for a club that were already relegated:

Hertha Berlin 2-2 Hannover
Hannover 2-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
FC Ingolstadt 2-2 Hannover
Hannover 1-3 Schalke
Hannover 1-0 Hoffenheim
Bayern Munich 3-1 Hannover

The idea of having a German coach who plays a high energy, pressing game with free flowing attacking football sounds very exciting and brilliant but, I just have the fear it would be like Heckingbottom again in terms of not knowing/underestimating the league.

He also doesn’t appear to speak the best English, I wonder how that would translate to Scottish players and if they would zone out.
