Well well. As per usual, I am accused of speaking of an old photo. I never realized Jack Ross had the powers of Dorian Gray because the picture I have seen has a lot of grey hair.

It would appear that certain posters consistently accuse me of sharing inaccurate content. As a person who prides himself on sharing accurate information, I would never share a lie knowingly. I think certain posters should reflect on this fact and perhaps remember that this is a forum for discussion and debate, not for shouting down those who try to share information.

That was the very photo I had been sent by my god son. It would appear I have been the subject of a hoax. My humblest apologies to those I may have confused, but for those who think abusing an elderly gentleman online is acceptable, I think they should reflect on their behaviour. Distasteful and not the class I expect from a forum.

Further to the above, I have been proven correct that it wasn’t an old photo and people who just make assumptions should really consider why they feel the need to make assumptions. Perhaps it would be better not to do so.

You posted you'd seen proof Ross had signed for Hearts, contradicting everything else being said elsewhere. When this was questioned no-one was abusing you, just pointing out you might be getting your leg pulled. Instead of considering that you went on the offensive an started accusing posters of various misgivings and pointing out how they'd owe you an apology as what you were posting was fact. I'd say it as your reaction which created the scenario not people picking on you as you're now claiming.

Potter is apparently a bit of a character, likes a laugh and a joke, which will be good for the likes of Kamberi.
Should make for a happy ship which is half the battle.

Given the size of the football operation at Sunderland, Fowler did the things that Ross didn't have time for.
We are a smaller operation so probably no need for Fowler. Saves a wage.

Good luck to him if and when he does become Hibs manager.

The difference for him compared to Heckingbottom is that we all know he has a bit of fixing to do, so from that perspective perhaps he will be given a bit more leeway. So long as we see a gradual improvement between now and the new year when he can get a couple of players in that will do for me.

I'm looking forward to the Motherwell game immensely now ... they are having a good season overall and it will be a real test for us, win that and things will definitely be looking up :aok:

Hibs are set to confirm the appointment of Jack Ross over the next 48 hours.

Most Hibees are excited by the move as the club land a manager who has impressed in Scotland - although admittedly not at Premiership level.

He had taken over a St Mirren side that looked destined to drop to the third tier and turned them around, earning promotion to the top flight within 18 months.

A move to Sunderland followed and he took over a side that had dropped to the third tier from the Premier League with back-to-back relegations.

In an interview with The Athletic after he left the Stadium of Light, he revealed he had just 10 players to work with on his first day at the club.

Those included high earners Lee Cattermole, Aiden McGeady and Bryan Oviedo who he was tasked with moving on.

Two of those did leave, with just McGeady left, and his season started well. Then Josh Maja was sold in the January transfer window to Bordeaux.

By the time the end of the season came, Maja was still Sunderland's top scorer on 15 goals.

His record was still relatively impressive. Although it was in the third tier, he has the best winning ratio of any Sunderland manager in the modern era with a 51 per cent win rate.

The club had been a basket case before he took over and were clearly still in the early stages of recovery and he said: “The structure of the club was never where I wanted it to be, although that’s not to say I’m right. Ultimately, there are a lot of people who have outlasted me."

Sunderland's record since he left is also an example of how Hibs supporters who might be concerned about his time in England should not worry.

During his 75 games in charge of the club, Ross' side lost just 10 while in the month since Phil Parkinson took over, Sunderland have been beaten four times.

They've won just twice in that time with two draws added in. The last of those defeats was a 3-0 battering against a S****horpe side who sit in 21st in League Two.

There's also been defeats to Leicester U21s, Wycombe and Shrewsbury under Parkinson with his two wins coming against Tranmere and Southend.

Things weren't perfect at Sunderland for Ross but his time there shouldn't be a cause for panic among Hibs supporters.

Excuse me sir, but not once have I posted anything distasteful or unclassy about a man who was clearly out of his depth. And also, what does my age have to do with anything!? The height of disrespect.

On Heckingbottom, I was ultimately proven correct and received a torrent of abuse from people like yourself. I think you should reflect on Heckingbottom’s management career with Hibernian and ask again who showed a lack of class.

Saves a wage.My son was with him at the Pars, says he is a great guy. Hopefully if he does come to Easter Road then he becomes a successful guy as well.!!😁👍💚

Hard to see what is not to like here.

Massive turnaround job at St Mirren from relegation fodder to league champions in 18 months. Had them playing nice stuff and put in a better account of themselves than we did after 3 years in the Championship.
Took on a basket-case of a club in Sunderland with 10 players left at the club when he took over (losing more in January). Still took them to 6th (they currently are 7th) in the table and narrowly lost out in the playoffs.
Young and Scottish manager with a very good knowledge of our game. He has continually scooped up players we really wanted to play for us, so clearly has the same idea of quality as we supporters do.
Humbling experience in England will probably increase the chances substantially that, if he does do well with us, he will stay and build more of a legacy.
Left Hearts under a dark cloud in a previous life, so doubt there is much love lost there...

He is my first choice. Excited.

I work with a St Mirren season ticket holder and he reckons JR is a top manager, who will win the fans over and get the players onside swiftly.
He was full of praise for his motivational skills but did question his lack of a plan B when things weren't working out in games.
He had Mallan playing out of his skin in the season St Mirren avoided relegation and Lewis Morgan was a star man in the promotion campaign. Here's hoping he can keep spirits high and build on that great win in Perth. He's got a decent run of fixtures to get started and momentum is so important going into a very tough festive run.
Fingers crossed for the "new boss bounce"...

From a Sunderland shareholding pal of mine.

Hi - Personally mostly positive - well organized, excellent with the media, tactically decent. Signing a mixed bag some good some not so but rumours where he wasn’t responsible for signings. Weakest area for sure was going forward - we drew too many games under Ross and he was always cautious in approach - cost us the play off final too.

It is harsh, but we’re talking about Sunderland in the third division.

He had 46 games to secure automatic promotion and not be hard done by in injury time of a playoff.

In his first season Lennon had one job - get us promoted - and he got the job done. It’s nonsense that some folk criticise the lack of style etc, he simply did what was needed.

Ross wasn’t even fired for that failure - he was given another go, and was only fired when it became clear they weren’t going to go up under him this season.

FWIW, now I’ve had a chance to think about it I think he’ll be stronger for the experience and will do a brilliant job for Hibs.

I think the rumours of Ross’ poor style of play with Sunderland comes down to what you say Lennon done with us. Get the job done no matter what.

i think he became guilty of trying to protect the lead just so they got the win as he felt the pressure.

i understand he ultimately failed with Sunderland however I think the club is a bit of a mess and there’s a lot more underlying issues than folk initially think. I’m not sure how much he was actually given to spend, a lot of their players were already on high wages before he came in. A good few teams in league 1 also have quite a bit of spending power.

Draws were an issue for Lennon too in the Championship (14 draws in 36 games). Ross’s Sunderland lost only 5 games out of 46! They drew 19. Percentage wise, very similar to Lennon’s record with us. Not too shabby if you ask me.

That's the teams that finished above sunderland last season.

Charlton are a very good side as are luton, pompey are a big side.and barnsley also a very good attacking side.

From memory Sunderland were in 6th place just 3 or so points off the play offs when they sacked Ross last month. How on earth could they decide at that stage in the season with so many games left to play that he wasn’t the man for them? It wasn’t like they were stranded at the bottom of the table. Talk about unrealistic expectations, the guy had 6 or 7 months to get them promoted but instead got the bullet. I feel as a sunderland season ticket holder that he wasn't fired for results more the performances and his stubbornness to change things. Many fans wanted him to be a success but I felt the pressure and expectation was too heavy a burden for him. When he was sacked many felt that he would still go onto be a success, really hoping that is the case now he's at Hibs.
