There may well be buses coming over the hill from the Queensferry Road.
I think your best bet would be heading down to the petrol station next to McDonalds.

Majority of buses will pass/stop there
I guess you will know that
At least some. if not all, should get on a bus.

I would jump on the 900 bus to Buchanan Street and take it from there
