Looking like he might be able to cover holding midfield after all then?

Boy improving every game. Only played 4 games since May. Think we'll have a right good player on our hands when he's fully up to speed.

He, like Vela, didn’t have a preseason and has played very little football this year... both have shown that given time they will be good players.

It’s funny how a couple of reasonable results change people’s views.

He's a clever player. Like Omeonga he's good at blocking the passing lanes as the modern fitba parlance goes.

Too early for me to call it on him but the signs are positive. He is still getting to know his teammates on match day, his match fitness is still building, he is still adapting to the Scottish game. If I assume he improves as all of this comes comes together then he could be a cracking signing. Did very well today.

Keeps the ball well. I think he is playing where he is out of necessity, not sure it’s really his position though. Encouraged by him though.

I said the same v Hearts. I thought we were fine until he got tired. He’s doing the simple things well now.

We lost a bit when he went off on Wednesday as well. Think there’s more to come from him but looks a good signing.

He has that wee bit of class about him, early days but he could turn out to be a very good players for us.

He was okay.

Still too passive for my liking.

I think he's been the main difference the past few games.

The shape of the midfield has been good and we've been much harder to cut open.

It was badly needed. Fortunately time is on our side this season, we've got a lot of games to play to allow us to make up ground. A bad start is never a good thing but getting a blip out the way with time to rectify matters is better than falling apart later in a season Butcher style.

Has been really good in the last three games. Will be great for us once fully fit.

Early signs are good, will be interesting to see opinions in a few weeks to time when we've been able to see more of him.

Vela definitely benefits from playing beside him.

Too early to say he’s going to come good. So far he’s been poor to average but that might be down to fitness

I think he gives us a foundation to build from though.

He never did anything brilliant today but we had a shape and a base to the midfield that the other midfielders could work from.

He’s not been bad, he’s not been brilliant but I don’t think it’s a coincidence other midfielders have been better since he started playing.

I don’t think the position he is playing is really his position. He looks more capable than the others of being the deep player but I’m not sure that will see us get the best out of him.

He's got a touch of class about him and he's been excellent in front of the back four. If anyone thinks different watch back on video to see how just sitting there without tackling can make an impact.

Hallberg had no pre season.
Has played 3 games in last 6 days.
Another weeks training and a bit of rest should see him well set up to play the whole of the next game.
My only concern today was his softness in 50/50's.

Vela was much further forward today and it suited him. His best match to date and looked as if his fitness is reaching the required level.

Doidge was my man of the match. Put in a big shift up front with no help anywhere near him.
He and Hibs now need Kamberi playing on the left and getting close to and playing off him.

Middleton did a lot of good defensive work today which was valuable in our quest to keep Celtic out.

Porteous will be back next game and we learned today that Whittaker is a handy back up Centre Half.

Reminds me of Omeonga.

Decent without being startling.

I think he's potentially a really good player for us. A consistent run in the team will reveal all once he has full match fitness, gets the pace of the scottish game and becomes used to the other players round him.

Especially given hibs.net's form for being very hasty in announcing how brilliant a signing someone is :agree:

Still to be convinced by Hallberg in truth, will give him benefit of doubt until he is fully up to speed

Indeed he did. As I said yesterday, he reminds me of Omeonga.

Hallberg - Probably the best lager in the world. :greengrin

Damn good looking too, I may add.

If he's getting his own song, has to be to the tune of Belter by Gerry Cinnamon.

He is big Melker...

Hahaha Here’s my go ...others can do the business ...

He is Melker
Different from the rest
Number 20 on his strip
And he always looks the best
He is Swedish
With a hundred mile stare
When he walks
He plays the ball with flair
