Can anyone enlighten me on the display message?

Is it a reference to something?

We were asking the same. Is this a Stanton quote or something like that?

Probably a genuine question. Not one of the clowns on the pitch answered it today.

Apart from a few, ( certainly Porto), I agree.

Well the banner said it all, sadly the players seem to have a problem reading the words.

Seemed like a thinly veiled message to the players that they needed to get their fingers out their *****.

Didn't work tho.

Don't understand any negative comments on the display. Amazing effort and hard work and I thought it looked brillant. The words had a clear meaning and were meant to get the players encouraged.

The downside to sitting in the FF and therefor being part of the displays is that you don't get to see them. From the pictures I have see it looked good.

I certainly understand the sentiment of the meesage and results and performances like today hammer it home.

I’m sure I understand the sentiment but I’m not sure it made sense, unless it was supposed to be some sort of threat.

I took it as the fans questioning the players desire and will to win for this football club. Seems only a couple of them stepped up when it mattered.

I think the display looked great and hats off to all those involved.

That said, I think the meaning of the phrase used was lost a bit due to the "where", "player", "dare" play on words.

I thought it looked good and well done to all who were involved.

Wee bit of constructive criticism though, the words were difficult to read on that colour background.

I thought it looked fantastic and before the game kicked off you could see most of the players looking in that direction. I hoped at that point it would get their hearts beating in their chests and elicit a response on the park but unfortunately that didn't work out. Bloody great though, congratulations to those behind it.

No problem understanding it, good effort, well timed, oh for a fit SDG, Daz, Boyle and someone to fill the Marvin Bartley role.

Too many going through the motions or just plain indifferent signings who are filling the bench and could be doing the same anywhere.

Seems the message was lost on many but I though it was quite apt. Nice play on words meant to give the players a proverbial kick... Agree however that it was difficult to read against the background. White outline or white text with a black background would've helped. Good job though as it looked excellent.

Excellent display. Well done to those who organised it. If our displays on the pitch and the ability of the staff off it matched the commitment, desire and passion the fans have then the club wouldn't be in the mess it is now.

I’m no genius but, surely the correct formation of words would include ‘dare not’ as opposed to the incorrect ‘not dare’ as depicted on the banner?

Hibs must be one of the best in Scotland for displays.

Must have taken some time to sort and organise.

Look forward to the next one - the current dross on the pitch don't deserve your efforts.

I think both ways round make sense but mean different things? For the sake of illustrating I'm going with the word bravery:

Not dare - not have the bravery to do something.

Dare not - have the bravery not do do something.

So I guess they were asking where are the players who don't have what it takes to stand up and fight for us.... as opposed to the more 'threatening' where are the players who dare to not show us the fight required...

That's my take on it. Although I have to admit to being another one that was slightly puzzled when I first seen it.

Indeed. It's clunky syntax to say the least. "Where is the player that would dare not fight for Hibernian" would've worked better.

Quality display overall though.

Either way, the *****bags on the pitch sure as hell didn't get the message.

It certainly sums up the current mood better in my opinion. Maybe it's time to be more blunt in our feelings.

Infact, let's all get the bed sheets and sharpie pens out for tonight's game and make a competition of it.

Oh, the meaning of the message is quite clear. However, Walter Scott or no Walter Scott, the formation of the part of the wording, is dreadful.

To be fair to him though, it was written a few years ago and things have changed somewhat!

Still poor English, in my opinion.
