In 1 way, it's dreadful news as that is an inhumane disease that I wouldn't wish on anyone. In another, given how it had ravaged him the last few years, it's probably a mercy and a bit of a release from an unimaginable horror that he fought very bravely over the last few years.

He is now, finally, at peace.

I haven't accessed any Daily Record article since the 2016 cup final so this has passed me by. However nothing shocks me as to the lengths that the tabloid press will go to in order to sell papers/get clicks onto their website.

Very crass and insensitive behaviour.

A new low for me. Sickening behaviour, really angered me that. Completely needless, no public interest and from what a decent Celtic supporting mate tells me, the DR has managed that rarest of feats in unanimously uniting both sides of the OF in their condemnation of this ****my behaviour

First the story about Ben Stokes' family history, then the journalist informing Gareth Thomas' parents about his HIV diagnosis, and now this...

Rangers should ensure the DR join the BBC and never allow them in their stadium ever again - as should every club in Scotland. Not too long after launching a "Respect Our Players" campaign too?! Utter ****.

Pretty Boy
18-09-2019, 07:26 PM
This is only a few months after the DR had to remove a story that insinuated, with a certain sneer, that Liam Miller was gloating about his life only a couple of months before a cancer diagnosis and then passing away. Now they point a camera in a guys face and tell him his friend has died.

Even by tabloid standards that's ****bag behaviour. They've removed the story now but that's missing the point entirely. Utterly despicable.

This incredibly crass and desperate journalism from the Daily Record is worthy of them being banned from every club in Scotland. That wasn’t just an insult to Michael Mols, Rangers or the memory of Rickson, it’s an insult to the sport of football.

This nonsense is only confirmation of the Record’s desperation and increasing irrelevance as their circulation continues to head south.

Yes I believe there was.

I don't have any problem with us having one but it's odd that there's not one for Junior Agogo who played for us. Or even for Bobby Prentice who played for Hearts.

I also strongly believe that we should be having a silence instead of an applause especially when it's for someone so young.

A big character in Scottish football who had a high profile battle with a horrific disease, is it too much to ask?

Strange that they're not acknowledging the 2 players with links to today's 2 teams at the same time though.

We spend a lot of time (too much) in Scottish football getting hot and bothered about marks of respect - minutes applause, guards of honour etc.

I dont see the problem, he had a terrible disease he fought bravely and lived longer than anyone would have thought and because of the clubs and country he played for it was brought more into the public eye. It got a very high profile, especially in Holland. This terrible disease has taken many many lives and 1 minutes applause for a battler really is not too much to ask.
