The Edinburgh derby at the Leith San Siro on a Sunday, is there anything better for a Hibs fan? It's the fixture in recent years as fans, we haven't feared and been confident of a win. Except this time it's different. We have under-played in every game so far this season. We've yet to see what our best 11 are or our best formation is. We all have ideas of what we'd like to see from a 352,4231, to my preferred choice of the 442 narrow diamond. Strangely both managers are under huge pressure, with talk of a win costing the other their job. Whether that's likely to happen or not we will wait to see. I for one don't hope this game is the one that gives PH his p45.
As Hibs fans we are rightly worried about Sunday and some fearing the worst. In-fact, we're so worried there's been threads and comments on here hoping we lose, so the manager gets his marching orders. Hearts fans are equally divided with some fearing the worst and others coining the phrase "Levein will get them going for it" a phrase I've heard Hibs fans use many times. Let's look at the stats though - Levein as Hearts manager in all competitions against Hibs has won 4, lost 3 and drew 3. that's hardly anything to be ecstatic about!
Let's look a bit further at the stats though, in the last 10 league games Hearts have won 0 games and Hibs only 1, so not a great deal to shout about for either side. Yet as bad as we've been, we're still above them in the league. Let's break it down further though and look at home and away fixtures in the last 10. In Hibs last 5 home games in league we've lost once, scoring 5 and conceding 5. In Hearts last 5 away games, they've failed to win a single game. Beat 4 times and drew 1.1 with us, scoring 6 and conceding a whopping 10. Still fearing the worst? Let me provide a bit more detail, In the last 5 derbies in all competitions at Easter Road, we have won 3, drew 1 and lost 1.
While the pressure remains on both managers and I couldn't care about the pressure on Levein - We come up against a toiling Hearts side with key injuries, who are hounding for their manager to go. This is the game for Paul Heckingbottom and the players to give back to the fans. This is the one where PH and the players find out what it feels to be a Hibee.
