If we can cut out the individual errors like we had against Killie, I think we are due a result.

Prediction = We’ll all look back at this game as the one that saved Heckingbottom from the sack.

Comfortable win for the Jambos, unfortunately. They’re at sixes and sevens, but we’re at twelves and fourteens. When it comes to a difficult call in a derby match, they always seem to find the winner, probably an out of the blue screamer from 35 yards.

As usual? When was the last time this ''usual'' occurance happened? As usual as in this season, this team has no fight in it. Sorry if my post suggested otherwise. Our recent Derby record is decent.

Historically even poor hearts teams tend to be up for it when derbies come around.

I said on a thread a while back after ibrox 4-1 Hearts and got taken to task by some. Fear still the same and stick by it. Would be delighted to be wrong but these games are won by fight and heart. A battle of will and strength in the middle and being solid in defence - everything we are not.

The positives - Hearts can't score and can't keep a clean sheet.

The negatives - we can't score and can't keep a clean sheet.

So I've opted for the draw, although that could be anything from 0-0 to 6-6 depending on whether the strikers or defenders have the worse game.

I’m guessing folk predicting hearts win haven’t actually seen them play much this season. I’ve watched them a couple of times and they’re absolutely awful. With a bit of belief in our team we’ll destroy them. Fans don’t demonstrate after games and try and storm the boardroom when things are going well. It will only paper over the cracks, but I think we’ll win.

My negative prediction is based on knowing nothing about them, but having seen plenty of us (as well as plenty of Levein in derbies in the past) I have zero belief we have what it takes to get anything out the game.

I voted them to win. Seen it so many times, a team without a win comes up against us and finally get that win. They are undoubtedly pish, but are at least scoring and if Naismith is back he'll make a big difference.

Tbh if substituted them for any other team in the league and had the same poll I'd vote for the opposition to win. I can't see where our next win will come from while Heckingbottom is in charge.

This. Forget it being a derby, I can’t really see us scoring a goal, never mind winning a game. And if we do score a goal, there is no danger we’ll keep a clean sheet anyway so we’ll need to score more than one to win.

If we can score first then there is a chance we’ll win, on the basis they’re even worse than us. If we go behind, forget it.

I went for a draw based on the fact Hearts appear to be at least as bad as us. 1-1 perhaps.

Gut feeling though is we'll lose, most likely 0-1 in a dreadful game, which would surely make Hecky's position untenable.

Two poor teams who would probably settle for a draw if you offered them it today. I think a nervy draw is how it'll pan out as they'll both be terrified of losing, rather than trying to win.

In all my years watching derbies, Hertz have more often than not,
been up for the game more than Hibs.

Given we've got a midfield who can't tackle a fish supper and a Manager who clearly doesn't inspire his players this looks like an away win to me sadly.

16-09-2019, 05:34 PM
It'll be a brutal game between two brutal teams.

I must say though, for the first time in a few years I'm actually not looking forward to the derby and sadly think they will beat us. They are honking don't get me wrong but they are at least managing goals. Our only save in grace is that they are as bad as they are because if it was a half decent hearts side I'd be in real fear of a tankin. As I say it'll be a rotten display of football but I think they'll manage to scrape the win.

Not normally such a doom and gloom merchant but I'm afraid it is just so hard to be positive about this team atm.

Agree, unless they have done a crash course in defending with the squad available, I would imagine a very front foot approach is the only option here.
Cant wait for the game.

A Big win for Hearts = Board will need to make a decision about Heckingbottom and if he's already on a shoogly peg (with the board) then this could be the moment they axe him. If not, then not sure what they are waiting for, but may have agreed an 'until Xmas trial'

A sneaky win for Hearts = Trickier for the board if they want to give him more time, but the fans will be calling for the axe..

Draw = Positive spin from Club if they plan to keep Heckingbottom, and silence if they are still deliberating

Sneaky win for Hibs = Heckingbottom given more time (weeks or months), fans may chill a bit but probably not that much

Big win for Hibs = Brilliant, love a highlights session with a multi-goal pap fest of the Jambos. Board delay any possible sackings and hope the team starts to kick on. Support?

Different times though. If a Hearts team that is without a league win since March were to come to Easter Road and give us a heavy beating, there is no possible coming back for Hecky. The vast majority of fans on here want him out now; a pumping in the derby would make his position impossible, in my humble opinion.

We had a decent, young and exciting team back then that finished 4th and that Hearts team finished 2nd and won the Scottish Cup.

Plus that Hibs team won 3-0 at Ibrox twice that season. You’d be lucky if this Hibs team scored 3 goals past any Premiership opponent.
