Watched the excellent Off Off The Ball interview last night with Keane and Gary Neville. Really enjoyed it. I know he's a divisive character but was wondering what peoples general opinion of him was? For me he was an inspirational captain and leader as a player and the only pundit down south I'll listen to seriously along with Souness. Don't think Man United would have had the same success without him. Interesting to hear he wants another crack at management. All hypothetical but would anyone take him at Hibs? If we thought Lennon was box office Keane would be off the scale. Patchy managerial record though.

I watched it and it was certainly interesting. Keane's very up and down with me. Sometimes I think he's an utter moaning git and a bit of a parody of a hardman then there's other times when I'm nodding my head in agreement and think he's some sort of oracle to the lack of edge/softness throughout football nowadays.

I doubt it would work out at Hibs. His standards would be too much for the comfy world of Scottish football and we would end up with another Collins situation in my opinion.

The facts are that the players have all the power in the game nowadays and Keane when he gets nasty would cause all sorts of issues in the dressing room. Lennon has people skills and a fun side that I'm not sure Keane has and look how that ended.

Clearly something very wrong in his head. Recent article about the way he spoke to players at Ipswich and his recent comments about Jon Walters are disgraceful really. Needs professional help.

I just think he comes across as really bitter all the time. His absolute hatred of Alex Ferguson seems to stem from the fact he really thought he was a bit special and different to Fergie. Ultimately though he was treated in the exact same way as every other player who outlived their usefulness at Man Utd and he can't stand that.

He's a total caricature as far as I can see and some of his latest ramblings are verging on him being footballs answer to Katie Hopkins.

I love him.

Utterly mental but very honest and consistent.

You'd know where you stand with him and if your standards were high enough then you'd have nothing to worry about. If not.........

I just don't know if he'd struggle a bit with players at our level - players who lack his commitment or ability. He'd need to get a tune out of players who he maybe doesn't rate and like John Collins, I think he'd have problems there.

Apparently Jon Walters and Keane had a bit of a face off in Keane’s office when they were both at Ipswich. Sounds like Keane might have shat himself a wee bit when Walters refused to be bullied

I've met him a few times and he's a top guy. As most would expect he is in no way like his TV personality in real life. In fact he is pleasant and very genuine.

It was outrageous, though that goes back to Keane's injury at Elland Road and Haaland's conduct. No excuse for Keane's response though.

Clearly I wasn't suggesting those things are anything other tragic. My reference was around the incident at the Ireland training camp. And the subsequent leak to the press. Feel free to add another dimension to it if it makes you feel better though.

He's a bit all over the place. He'll play the hardman role and then turn victim when he talks about how Ferguson treated him.

It's a pretty hypocritical to think you can tear into players as a manager but constantly moan that you weren't respected as a player.

That said his display in the second leg of the Champions League semi final away to Juve the year they won it was one of the best captains performances I've ever seen.

I didn't realize that is what you were talking about, I assumed you were talking about the ''recent comments about Jon Walters'' part of my post.

He was ridiculously out of order at the Ireland training ground as well, coming into the changing room screaming at players who had injuries.

Keane tangled up with plenty of guys but he wouldn't dare go up against Ferguson who was a genuinely scary guy on the pitch and off it.

My one memory of Roy Keane playing for Celtic was that Mikey Stewart was all over him like a rash when he came to Easter Road with Celtic. It was, without doubt, the most energetic I had seen Stewart in a Hibs top. It made me think that Stewart was out to prove something against someone that he would have known from his Man United days. However, as soon as Keane left the field, it was back to the usual Stewart performance.

Had Stewart been that energetic in all of his games, then he wouldn't have finished his career at places like Easter Road and Tiny.

Winning 7 premier league titles and the rest as captain of Man United is incredible. Especially with all the big names that came and went. You can bet your life he was the first name on Fergies team sheet for the vast majority of his time there. His hip was gone by the time he went to Celtic though. Keane is brilliant entertainment on the box but his biggest flaw is he doesn't seem to back down to anyone wheather he's right or wrong. Everything seems to have to be a battle.

Was watching his various movements at Forest not too long ago. He took some time in agreeing to join Martin O'Neil as his assistant and was then out of the door leaving, after an even shorter period at the City Ground than Martin without any reasonable explanation why.

I don't see a scintillating future career in management for Roy Keane and I think that will be recognised generally in English football. He has some excellent qualities but is sadly lacking in others.

As for hard, well yes, on the pitch most definitely, He was decked by Brian Clough in the Nottingham Forest dressing room by Brian Clough though, 'I only ever hit Roy Keane the once. He got up so I couldn't have hit him very hard'. :)

Keane didn't end Haaland's career. I don't like him but that's a myth that seems to be accepted as fact now.

Keane tackled Haaland and connected with his right knee. Haaland played the rest of that match, played an international game midweek then played for Man City the following week. He retired at the end of the following season because of an ongoing problem with his left knee.

Here is the quote. Pretty complimentary to Hibs.

"We played Hibernian a few weeks later, away at Easter Road, and I remember feeling a bit caught out. I'd done my homework on Rangers but I didn't know much about Hibs. I remember thinking, '**** it, this is hard.' They had a couple of lads in the middle of the park. Kevin Thomson was one of them; he went on to Rangers and Middlesbrough. They were both excellent. We won, but it was a bit of a shock. I thought I should have been dominating these two, or any Hibs players. But my mind was lying, they had very good players."

Played over 500 games in the Premier League, was named in one of the first PFA team of the year back in 1993. Played in the Champions League with Leeds and Newcastle, and won Everton's player of the year during his time there. He was also a very good player and captain.
