How on earth did the Stewards outside Ibrox miss people sneaking in all those flares... and the 40 foot banner of the Pope?

The last time we went, every single person was searched on the way in!

All flags had to be unfurled outside then checked if they were acceptable, meaning anything over 5' or with religious or political slogans weren't allowed.

Probably shat themselves. Probably knew these Legia Warsaw Ultras aren’t really a mob you want to mess around with.

Well there were dozens of polis in the vicinity assisting them at our game. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have the same setup for that game as well.

Saw footage of them being marched in from City Centre - probably straight into stadium as quickly as they could without searches. Given the numbers all arriving at stadium at same time it wouldn’t surprise me if they matched them straight through the exit doors into the ground.

If they did do that, then whoever was in charge needs their wrists slapped.

I remember a steward at Tannadice laying down the law at every given
opportunity and picking on some young lads in particular. We had a word with him re his attitude and I asked him if he was so vocal when Slask Wroclaw visited the previous game
His more placid mate said he was hiding downstairs with the rest of the stewards

Not surprised. The same thing will happen when Feyenoord will visit Ibrox next up. Stewards will s*** themselves when they visit. As I said earlier, they know fine well to not get on the wrong side of these mobs.

Obviously pure guesswork, but after watching the film of the fans being escorted to Ibrox en masse I did wonder what would happen outside turnstiles with so many at one time. Searching, if any, had to be minimal at best.
You’ll see pensioners being frisked today at Fir Park this afternoon guaranteed.

Tannidice used to be horrific, some steward was trying to chuck me and my mate out for standing. We were at the very back of the stand and just scored, he was literally on the balls of his feet just waiting on us getting up to come rushing over.

Me too, when I was at Ibrox a few weeks back, were searched thoroughly before we went in

The place is a death trap as well. Especially the Fair Play stand with its tiny corridors

*****bags. 3 Legia capos standing on the wall orchestrating the crowd. A Hibs fan does that it’s the cells and a criminal record.

I’ve no sympathy for Sevco in their current problems with UEFA, but it’s a nonsense that clubs are forced to give tickets to clubs with well-known supporter problems.

Same way Hibs fans managed to get 2 flares in at Greece last season? Or countless flares and smoke bombs at Tynie for the 2-1 game. Most searches are a quick check of the pockets and on your way - nothing more than a tick box exercise. At the same game at Tynie the bogs were littered with about a half dozen empty quarter bottles of voddy.

Legia are seasoned european travellers and one of the best ultras in Poland if not Europe. I'm sure it doesn't take much for them to suss out how to sneak some stuff past a couple of students on 7 quid an hour who would rather be in the pub! Polis don't get involved in searches.

How have (now) Police Scotland missed decades of sectarian singing?

What well known problems?

Uefa don't see pyrotechnics as that big a deal - hence they only dished out fines usually for a few grand. The fine will be more if its thrown on the pitch as you'll get a charge for missle throwing aswell.

I mean being such a bunch of aggros that folk deployed on reasonable stadium security would fear for their safety if they did their job.

I was at the Wroclaw game. Great atmosphere. Stewards, police and dundee futility all posted missing that night.

Given the action by UEFA the previous week I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers hierarchy decided to give the legia Warsaw fans enough rope to hang themselves!! Make sure they are seen to be doing as much as the can, while in reality doing the bare minimum, and let UEFA punish Legia as there's strict liability in place. Fair play to them!!

TBH, that was my feeling as well.

Maybe they were hoping the behaviour in the away end, including pyros and banners, would be enough to distract from the behaviour of the home fans. Or even to use that as an excuse if the misbehaved ("they were goaded").

Shocker - Hun-stewards, like their fans, only got bottle when they vastly outnumber the opposition !
