What with the BA strike ruining my holiday plans, I've turned to car porn to cheer myself up.

Enjoy.

I'm neither, but I'd settle for both if I could get my hands on a Lamborghini Huracan! :greengrin

Was in the Lamborghini showroom today on business, looked at some fantastic looking motors, trouble is you would hardly get the benefit of owning such a super car unless you regularly got to open it up on an airfield or track.

I can't drive and have next to no interest in cars but the Aston Martin DB5 of Goldfinger vintage is beyond sexy.

Me too. It doesn’t have the top speed of some of the other cars, but it’s faster to 60 which is more practical day to day. There’s very few places in the world we’re you can actually achieve the top speed of some these supercars.

Me and a few mates are in the process of planning a F1 GP trip for next season, having been to Silverstone a few times and ruling out camping again I priced up a similar RV (obviously without the copter) to hire for the weekend. £8750 + VAT was the best quote I got for 3 days and you aint allowed to drive it, needless to say we declined and have opted to get an all inclusive package to the Vietnam GP which works out cheaper.

I'm not really interested in motor racing but my 10 year old is desperate to see it. Are these type of events family friendly or is it just beer swilling petrol heads?

Enjoy Vietnam, sounds like an amazing trip.

Far from beer swilling petrolheads H, granted there's a lot of beer drinking but it's a great atmosphere, you'd be amazed how many families attend. I'm just back from the MotoGP at Silverstone last week and you'd think that would be even worse being it's bikes rather than cars but it was a great weekend. There's a family friendly camp site which is monitored 24/7 for late night noise, over exuberance and it's stopped immediately. Think of it as being very similar to attending a festival without the copious amounts of drugs. There's purpose built shower blocks and toilets which are spotless 24/7, shops, fairground, onsite bars, live bands that finish at a reasonable time of night, pubs that close at 12. It's a fantastic weekend and they even throw in a race or two which is an added bonus. :greengrin

Thanks Andy, I'll research a bit what's happening race wise in central Europe. The Lausitzring is not too far from here so that's probably a decent starting point.

Seriously engineered car, the tires are apparently filled with 100% nitrogen as opposed to compressed air to keep the pressures more equal in differing temperatures. If you need a new gearbox you can't swap it for any other GTR box, you need the one specifically made for that one vehicle. Travelling down the M6 often, I see them regularly but most are wrapped in the most craziest colours, I suppose it's a youngster thing.

Pretty mental when an F1 car can only do around 230mph!

Done 150 on the autobahn and that was terrifying.

Yes, but it's 230mph with a 1.6l engine!

The Chiron is 8.0l!

That’s true

But at that speed it’s all about the aerodynamics to keep it on the road.

I actually shat it as I saw a police car coming the opposite way from me and thought they might have have some sort of scanner 😂

And yes the road was empty.

Would the road being empty also have excused you if you had driven after several pints 😉

I'll get up to about 140 quite regularly but only in the wee wee hours. Other drivers are just too unpredictable to do it in normal traffic, especially if trucks are on the road. I much prefer bimbling along at 60 with the caravan in tow.

It’s such a shame the German gp has been cancelled it was one of the best races of the year.

My house is quite close to the road which my kitchen window overlooks, so you can imagine my surprise when I was making my lunch yesterday and five McLarens went past on a row. Lovely noise.
