One step forward two steps back!
This like the squad should have been up and running before the start of the season, but here we are two games into the season, and i haven't yet had a connection at the start of the game. Not happy, particularly given the hike in the subscription price this year.

Hi folks,

Spoke to the external company who looks after the technical side of things for Hibs TV and they're reporting no issues.

If you're experiencing any problems can you get in touch with them via support@hibernianfc.co.uk and they'll hopefully be able to get you up and running.

I now have a good HD video and audio stream in Oz.

I'm using a Firestick on my TV and the stream was not working with either Silk or Puffin, but is fine on Firefox.

My only complaint is the contrast of the bright sunshine on the far side of the pitch and i’m pretty sure that’s not something HibsTV can fix. Fantastic feed and quality so far today.

I gave up Hibs tv this season because of comments like this. Don't get me wrong sir I'm not having a go at you, but last season I was so fed up with 1 or 2 people in maybe 10 telling me Hibs tv was perfect for them when it patently wasn't for the rest of us. I know my wifi and data is perfectly capable of streaming and was constantly let down by Hibs tv. Seems nothing has changed this season. Shame.

& with the price hike for a 3/4 times a month service that ain’t good enough for many, Swedish, all you should do is button it! For price charged this should not be happening once, but it’s not! Too often.

People on this site could pick an argument with themselves. I started the post with problems with getting normal service but did manage to get audio on the game which is all i wanted and just wanted to see if others were having the same issue. Suddenly we have people having a pop at each other which happens on every thread started. Time we had some mature treatment of each other . The site is becoming an embarrasment over non contentious points raised - fair enough if a thread is raised over differing views but can we at least be civil with each other on these other threads ?

There needs to be an IDIOT'S guide to logging in for people like me.

I wasn't the only one at midnight who didn't know which buttons to press again at midnight, when it didn't do what was expected of it.

Plus I exhausted my entire swear word vocabulary, and in fact had to invent some new ones before it worked.

As far as a ''customer friendly'' log on process goes..I think this one has been designed by the Cactus Toilet Paper company.

I’m no tech expert but using some logic I’ve learned from my work experience. When using the internet at some location globally the damn thing is only as good as the weakest link.
At work I have a very expensive dedicated Verizon line that links the office in Edinburgh to my office in Singapore. Problems are rare but there have been occasions that when we call Verizon they say everything on their line is fine and then suggest the problem sits with Singapore Telecom who are the local vendor. You chase them and responses can vary. The point is knowing the price of the dedicated line from Edin to SG, Hibs are obviously not paying that fee for every nation they route to, it wouldn’t be financially possible and even if they did, they still couldn’t guarantee the perfect feed to every subscriber as they simply can’t have any control of local internet providers.
Bangkok and anyone else struggling with connections - I understand your frustration as I used to suffer from the same a few years ago but these are incredibly rare these days as far as my Hibs TV experience goes. I used to have the same mind set, my internet speed at my home is absolutely fine so why have I got a problem. I’m suggesting that the problem likely sits at some other point in the feeds journey through the local internet providers connections. It doesn’t help any of you but I don’t think it’s fair to blame Hibs TV for that. It’s not logical to suggest Hibs TV is to blame when there are many around the globe that don’t have a problem. If the problem was at Hibs TV then surely we would all struggle??? Am I being to simple about this as I really am not massively tech minded.

Thanks for that. Its the closest anyone has come to explaining why some of us continue to receive a less than perfect service. So, would I be right to say this is something that neither I nor Hibs tv can pin down who is at fault so I am indeed wasting my money by subscribing?

Literally all I was intending on doing with my comment was to perhaps highlight to any of the HibsTV media people looking in so that they could perhaps further trouble shoot the problem, that although it wasnt working for some, I was literally having zero issues, so perhaps it was fine for others.

It definitely wasn't intended as a 'look at me with my perfect stream!'

Although I do appreciate its frustrating when something's not working for you yet perfectly for others.

Hopefully they get it sorted so it works for all.

Agreed. I have rarely had a problem, and when I have it is usually system wide. Every week I see individuals having a problem a it must be frustrating, but it has to be the result of varying technical capabilities across the planet. Even with massive investment by the club wouldn’t there still be problems somewhere in the world?

I would never suggest anyone gave up their subscription as like you it’s my only hope and connection to Hibs every week. Even when I was struggling with quality I watched or listened when I couldn’t quite follow the ball on the screen. The mrs thought I was nuts sitting in front of a screen not actually being able to make out who was who or where the ball was OR rebooting over and over in the hope I might get a better picture.
The game changer for the quality and stability in Singapore happened 3 years ago when locally they started to move everything onto fibre. Everyone is now being forced into this but I jumped on the early conversion and since then I could count on 1 hand the number of games that were a nightmare due to technical reasons. Most of those occasions were away games or sometimes games that were being televised in the UK and Hibs TV we’re picking up their stream (I think these occasions were issues in scotland).
I don’t know the situation in Bangkok or anywhere else globally with regard the local internet but that’s been my experience here. Sorry I can’t give you more guidance, like I said, i’m not techie by trade.
Maybe worth putting some of this down on an email to Hibs TV and ask for one of their tech guys to give their opinion to you. Or locally in Bangkok, if you have a tech team at work or a mate who is tech minded, they may know a way to help your experience locally. Be that internet provider or something else.
Good luck, I feel for you as I get the frustration

Hi Broondog,

I've messaged everyone else privately who had said they were struggling and hopefully after using the dedicated support address - support@hibernianfc.co.uk - the external company who look after the technical side of Hibs TV were able to assist.

The media team and the matchday volunteer team aren't equipped to help in this area and it really is one for specialists.

Sorry to hear you had persistent problems getting live video. Did you use the email address I'd posted earlier in the thread? It's the most direct and quickest way to get help.

Can reassure you that of the thousands of subscribers we have the vast majority don't have any problems and those who do are usually up and running pretty quickly when they've been in touch. The same set-up is used by eight of the 12 Scottish Premiership teams, including Celtic - who clearly have deeper pockets so can pick and choose who they would work with. So the company we deal with is a long way from 'extremely amateur' and it's professionals who are running it.

Clearly it's a different ball game, quality wise, if you are a broadcast giant like BT or Sky, and that's no doubt reflected in the monthly bill.

Like I said, if you haven't used the dedicated email account then I'd urge you to give it a go. By the sounds of it you've nothing to lose.

Believe it or not, we're always looking at ways to try and improve the service and we're only going to be better off in that regard by having someone like Ron behind us given his background. Hibs TV has come a long way since its inception and there's plenty room for further improvement but it takes time and a bit of trial and error.

As ever, if you've any issues just give me a shout on here. My contact details are also listed in the website's club directory.

Yep picture was perfect once I got in, bar it closing itself down when Morton got their third goal, but it could just have been frightened by my demented shouting.

Problem I have is actually getting in.......it was easy in the ‘old’ system and you basically were either in or out.

With the new process you can’t decide whether you are idiotically pressing the wrong buttons, or the system has crashed.

Many of us in Oz, judging from out group Facebook, faced the same problem, and I very nearly gave up and went to bed, but eventually stumbled across the right sequence of buttons and expletives.

I repeat...people like me would be grateful for an ‘idiot’s guide’ to actually logging on.

Eventually we’ll get used to it, but at the moment it’s causing a fair bit angst.

Although my picture quality has been very good recently, I also have had problems with the new log on procedure. Apart from the crazy and illogical sequences one needs to go through, wondering what to press next (and I say this as a retired software engineer, who, unless I have gone senile in my old age, can recognise a badly constructed interface when I come across one), I have had problems getting playback at the final stage. I used Edge for a couple of games and it worked fine until last week. I switched to Chrome and that solved the problem, but this week Chrome would not playback, however Edge worked fine again. This is not a transmission problem, but something is not right with the current setup. As for emailing support, I am too busy trying to watch the game to start emailing people and from past experience I find I can usually find a solution faster than support can.

Hey nice to meet you (on here anyway) and thanks for that. Bangkok Hibby refers to my time in that amazing city. I'm Now in Jomtien beach. I mostly use my phone with a chrome browser and my account with AIS. Or, I use the wifi in my local. I've been reading with interest about the problems people have been having but have to say it's a wrench not having Hibs tv any more. I miss staying up until 4am watching, bleary eyed the midweek games. I'll probably give it another go now there seems to be a dedicated team you can email with your problems.
