All to come into the team next couple of weeks and all significant improvements on who’s playing there now

Middleton - streets ahead of Newell

Gray - streets ahead of Whittaker

Lewis - lightyears ahead of Mackie

Porto - maybe not such a big difference but arguably an improvement on Daz

Fingers crossed these 4 and hopefully one good signing in centre mid can really help us push on.

Disagree about Porto if he gets back to his form last season he will make a massive difference

Fingers crossed. My opinion is more based on still rating Daz than not rating Porto highly.

The three of our boys as well are full of fight and determination. Something which was massively lacking yesterday.

Porteous is our best defender and should be an automatic first pick.

Don't know what's happened to Hanlon but he's lost it in the last year.

Don't want to be a downer, but where are you getting the "New cm"?

We are done in the transfer market. It's been reiterated several times.

I think we need another winger even with Middleton

Sorry I’d meant to write hopefully a new CM in my first part of my post :greengrin

I think we’ll still have a little more movement to come. I’d be surprised if we don’t lose anyone as well.

Even without more, that’s 4 players from the team that started yesterday that will be massive improvements.

Not convinced SDG is going to cut it this year.

If he can stay fit I’m certain he’ll do well. The question mark is over his fitness for me.

The 45 minutes that Newell got yesterday were eyebleeding. Not once did he track a runner, instead pointing at Mackie to take him every time, yet Horgan manages on the other side?

Disgraceful and I'm surprised he's got off so lightly.

Awful signing so far - hope he proves me wrong.

We are done but anyone can see we need a ball winner in the midfield , im guessing thats what Vela is for but i didnt see him win many balls yesterday .

Then we won't finish in the top six and Levein will keep his job after a win/draw against us in September because that midfield isn't good enough. The manager's choice.

Not sure about Gray, didn't look completely fit when he came on yesterday & at Defoe's 3rd goal he couldn't even get off the ground, didn't try to jump.

Would rather see Porteous pair up with Jackson, both McGregor and Hanlon way off the pace yesterday and were torn apart by the Rangers attack, agree with the rest, Mackie looked out his depth at times yesterday, Whittaker despite having a good run the last few games was absolutely horrendous and gave the ball away numerous times. Excited to see what Middleton can do, has to be in ahead of Newell, hope I'm wrong but from what I've seen so far he brings nothing to the table and doesn't look like he can hack it up here, attitude is stinking as well, needs dropped.

Horgan never helped Whittikar at all yesterday, Jones had the whole of Ibrox to run at us.

I actually thought it was w tactic or ours to leave the winger high as they weren’t helping st all

Now I know it is early days but from what I have seen so far, Newell is a compete imposter. How he gets paid for being on a football pitch is beyond me, ( almost called him a professional football player, but that would be too far a stretch of my imagination).
The only way that imposter should be able to wear a Hibs strip is if he bought one out of the club shop. Hecky could pick anyone out of the terracing, hand him/her a strip & play them on the wing & get more out of them than what Newell does. Total waste of oxygen. Get him out of my club NOW.

Get off the fence Franck :greengrin
BTW I couldn't agree more.....how he's made money in football is beyond me.

I do unfortunately agree about Newell. He’s so far off looking capable at this level it’s scary.

I think our rebuilt midfield has really suffered from not having our first choice defence behind them.

I think our makeshift defence has suffered from having an absolutely dreadful midfield in front of them. No cover for the fullbacks. Mallan is useless defensively. Vela was meant to be an energetic all round midfielder and has so far been several yards off the pace.

If we had recruited properly this summer then we’d be ok. It’s like our strategy last summer in a way. We’ve signed some players with good reputations but have no idea how to get them into a team.

Porteous is our best defender and should be an automatic first pick.

Don't know what's happened to Hanlon but he's lost it in the last year.

His confidence from playing all the huddies in the championship is now drained.

He’s back to being what he was before, not good enough for a club challenging where we want to be challenging.

Perhaps same could be said about others from that period? Or is it just Hanlon?

Cup winning legend who has helped me celebrate many a derby victory along the way. Still - back to not being good enough I guess

Whats with all the sudden hatred for Mackie? I have doubts about his positional awareness but hes young and one of our biggest prospects. Thought yesterday until his moment of madness he'd actually played reasonably

The question has to be - to Hecky- what do you see in Newell?

He seems to be the only one that sees it as I don't know any of my mates who see a player there!!!

WTF Hecky, drop him or kick his arse and give him one more chance

Wouldn’t say there is a hatred for him but I’ve been disappointed in his performances . Thought he had the chance to make the left back spot his at the start of the season and he’s not taken it.

Said it when Jackson signed that I think our ch’s would end up being Jackson and Porteous. Daz can’t play every week and Hanlon has been poor for months

What’s happened to Hanlon is that he no longer has McGinn playing in front of him harassing opposing players.Anyone can see that we are wide open through central midfield and more teams are going to take advantage unless the gap is filled.

SDG is a crock, a hero but a proper crock. Hanlon is way past his best, Middleton has not even signed for us but he's now apparently one of our best players.

Porto is class, cant wait for him to come back before we sell him.

Allan and Rocky apart, the rest should be getting replaced as soon as possible.

Exactly. It was the Alamo for our defenders yesterday, as no-one in midfield was willing or able to stop the Huns charging through. I thought maybe Vela had been brought in as someone with defensive qualities, but none were on show yesterday.

Too easy to blame Hanlon & McGregor just because they've been around for years.

It was our 2nd string defence yesterday, fully expect the back 4 to be James, Porto, Jackson and Lewy once everyone is fit. Perhaps Gray instead of James if he can show form.
