Am hoping to head to a game somewhere in Europe this season with my son. Was just wondering if anyone had used any particular companies that they had good experiences with for this? Cheers 👍🏼🇳🇬

Don’t know about specific companies but this magazine is a great read even if you aren’t thinking about travelling. Hope it gives you some ideas. I think you can pick it up at WH Smith.

Never bought a package but found it relatively easy to buy tickets at home online, which can be printed off or saved to a smartphone. It will depend to an extent on which team and which game you are looking to attend.

You then have a bit more freedom to look for deals on flights and accommodation and scope to add other stuff in, depending on where you are going.

Avoid mate think of places teams you like and try plan yourself . Easy take three games in a weekend in mainland Europe with a nice journey between. Most clubs will help with tickets. I recommend a Holland Germany trip

DT Travel (good for English hospitality packages) and Sports Travel Guru (Spanish, German and Italian specialists) both look good. They’re on Facebook and get good reviews. Personally, I’d book independently but these will give yo an idea or take away the stresses.

Good advice. Dusseldorf is a great city with lots of big clubs within an hour on the train.

Went there in February and it was absolutely superb.

Booked flights and accommodation before we knew the TV games as there’s about 9 teams in the area (including the second division sides) so guaranteed to get a Saturday game somewhere close by.

I don’t know if other cities in the area are better than Düsseldorf as never been to them but I can’t recommend Düsseldorf highly enough, also get to have a pint with Matty Jack if you go there!

If you do decide to go to a Düsseldorf game we got tickets for 13 euros and transportation to the stadium is free on the day of the game.

Book your own flights on Ryanair or EasyJet, book your hotel through Booking.com, buy your tickets through the official ticket site.

Germany would be my goto place, especially if you like a bevvy. Plenty options too and they know how to do football. Bayern Munich to corprate-ey and Dortmund less-so but hard to get face value tickets. Schalke, Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin, Union Berlin, Hamburg (even as hun lovers) are all good options too. Just mind German games can take place Fri-Mon so bear in mind with flights. They usually announce TV games 3 months in advance i think for Bundesliga.

Germany your best bet. Been to Dusseldorf, Cologne, Vfl Bochum and Sankt Pauli, all superb! Met Dutch fans at Dusseldorf game who frequently get trains to games in central Europe. Its SO easy to get around yourself and they ALL speak English. You dont need a 3rd party travel agent. Do it yourself. Easy and cheaper!:agree:

I'd throw Bremen into the German mix too. Lovely wee city, cheap flights from Edinburgh, stadium is walkable from city centre (and most of the locals do this) and can drink beer and Jaeger on the walk too (legally).

Quite a few Hibbies with Bremen 'connections' including on here I believe. And a few of there guys know who we are too.

Do it yourself definitely as very roughly these companies seem to add about £150 mark up per person per match or weekend.

I would add Germany to the list as well such as Hamburg or Munich where you can fly direct from Edinburgh though I would accept the point that Bayern isn't easy to get tickets for.

However top of my list would be Valencia and the Mestalla as they are always planning to knock it down but its a city you can get to easily, its usually warm, tickets are available if you plan well in advance and it a very pretty city in its own right.

Its magnificent stadium (though now very old) with a cracking atmosphere.

Just echoing most folks messages in here. Me and my mates do a European trip every year. We check fixture lists now and book the flights as soon as they come out. Most clubs tickets come out 3 weeks prior to the game. However I’m certain Real Madrid went on sale the Monday prior to the game.

We’ve been to the Rome derby, Lisbon derby, and this year the Milan derby never had any issues getting tickets to any of them.

If you need any help drop me a pm and I’ll give you more info.
