No doubting Pep is a wonder coach but like last night when teams are organised defensively his little men attacking mentality doesn't work as he has no options to change things. One of the commentator said last night that Dzeko would've been a great option for him to have, crosses kept coming in for the little guys like Jesus and Sterling and also that Arsenal were a much bigger team. Arteta out coached his mentor last night.

Yeah, I thought this as well. Dzeko or someone like Ibrahimovic would've made a world of difference. He will never play that way, though.

I guess that is fair enough, his way will definitely win many more games than it loses him but in one offs, having a big blood and snotters centre forward could help significantly.

Man Citys most famous moment is the Aguero goal but it wouldn't have been possible without Dzeko making it 2-2. City hadn't looked like scoring for basically all of that game (first goal was very lucky IIRC) and he made all the difference.

I have always admired that Pep sets out to win everything possible which as a supporter is what you want to see from your team. Dismissing the FA Cup and League Cup by fielding weakened teams is a real let down to me. The big teams should be aiming to win the lot which is exactly what Pep has always tried to do during his time at City,

I think we are seeing some different football with no fans in the ground. Players are doing things they would be okay to do in training but would probably not try in a game.

The first Arsenal goal with the passes in the box to kick it off - I don’t think there’s any way you do that if 80,000 people are in there with half of them panicking and screaming to get it out of there.

all of the teams at and near the bottom have very hard fixtures tho i fancy luton will save themselves with a home game against nothing to play for blackburn

wigan, with 12 points deduction still have a tough tie v fulham chasing that auto promotion spot

charlton away to a leeds side that played a couple of fringe players today at derby and still won by a few goals

Barnsley are away at brentford who are also looking for that auto promotion spot

finally hull city are away at cardiff who need a point to guarantee play off spot, a huge -GD doesn't help

Lineker and Shearer calling the Martial chance/potential penalty offside. He was about 10 yards behind the defenders when the ball was played - nowhere near offside.

Oops, my earsight failing me - they were saying outside, as in outside the box, so not a potential penalty.

it’s to make sure they are properly penalised (rightly or wrongly)

they were told that if the 12 point penalty would relegate them this season it would be applied this season. If they survived by more than 12 points, it would be applied next season. This was to make sure they couldn’t have the penalty this year and still avoid relegation (which they would have done) and basically got off scot free.

the how’s and why’s of how they got into administration are a separate and dodgy conversation.

it’s to make sure they are properly penalised (rightly or wrongly)

they were told that if the 12 point penalty would relegate them this season it would be applied this season. If they survived by more than 12 points, it would be applied next season. This was to make sure they couldn’t have the penalty this year and still avoid relegation (which they would have done) and basically got off scot free.

the how’s and why’s of how they got into administration are a separate and dodgy conversation.

Ah, that it’s perfectly fair then 👍

He's had a broken ankle, it takes more than a few games to get back to speed after that. Doesn't suddenly become half the player.
He’s been back since before the restart. He’s been playing. He’s been decidedly average. He’s certainly not the player that went south. I don’t think slower and not covering as much ground has anything to do with his injury.

Read recently that McGinn had recovered from his broken ankle pre lockdown and was due to be in their squad for the game that ended up postponed, due to lockdown. They then discovered, right at the start of lockdown that he had a hairline fracture in his shin which meant he didn’t train for the majority of lockdown.

I think his poor form is predominantly down to fitness. In the first half of the season he was doing exactly what he did up here, just at a higher level.

Not based on tonight, he barely went passed a man and ran the ball straight out the park at 1 point.

There’s no way that he’s a ‘massive bargain’ at £25 million.

I think you’re probably right, but it wouldn’t be a shock if West Ham beat Villa and it wouldn’t be a shock if Watford lose to Arsenal. That leaves you with the possibility of a Bournemouth win at Everton keeping them up. It’s possible that all three will lose and it will go down to goal difference or goals scored.

I can definitely see Aston Villa and Watford both losing, it's the Bournemouth win that I can't see happening.

All three have pretty awful away records (they've all managed just 10 points from away games all season, only Norwich are worse) if I was a betting person I'd say Aston Villa will get a point to stay up and the other two will lose.

McGinn was excellent last night, especially in the second half. I know a few on another thread said he wasn't, but for whatever reason there seems to be opinions creeping in this forum criticising McGinn's recent performances. He's not been at his best in the restart, but he's been far from as poor as some would suggest. It's actually shocking how quickly people want to jump on a Hibs hero. Considering we seem to have a Tierney fan club starting on this forum too, and he was very poor when he came on last night.

Anyway, last games. Can't see Bournemouth winning away at Everton, so they're gone. And I just can't see Watford picking anything up at Arsenal. I think they'll probably have to win though, as I see Villa taking a point away to West Ham.

Chelsea can sign quality players like Werner and Ziyech, but unless they add some competence to that back 4, they're always going to languish behind City, Liverpool etc.

Rudiger and Zouma are both prone to too many errors, and deary me are they horrible marking at set pieces. I don't necessarily agree with Carragher's criticism of Arrizabalaga though - I think he's a very decent keeper, let down by being exposed far too often by what's in front of him.

Noone is interested in the Lesser Green's team sheet for a bounce game. We're Hibs for God's sake!

1-0 the Toon, VAR took nearly two minutes to make a decision for on side. Liverpool caught cold by Shelvey

How was David Silva not offside. He was standing right in front of the keeper.

Was watching Leicester v Man U but jeez Man U are back to their poor selves again, no urgency and poor decisions, Leicester are looking favourites. Just watching the AV game instead of both.

It's in Villa's hands, but I think they look cagey. West Ham have quality that could punish them

I’m not normally that bothered about other teams games, but I’m finding myself getting quite nervous and animated watching the Villa game.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see West Ham take Antonio off at halftime, he’s been booked and he had another tackle that could’ve seen him sent off. They won’t want to have him out for the start of next season.

That goal from Dr Bruyne is an absolute peach. What a player he is.

Yarmolenko could make a difference in this game.
