Can any of Porteous, Mackie, Murray or Shaw playvon Tuesday?

We can play 2 overage players. Believe players born in 1999 or younger can play automatically. Porteous and Murray are 1999 players so can both play.

Oli, Ben Stirling, Sadiki and and Mackie would be both overage players if selected. That’s 3 of last seasons back 4 not available!

Be interesting to see who we select as our overage players, not sure how fit Paddy Martin is, went off injured against Linlithgow Rose a few weeks ago, not sure who’s our under 18 goalie

Going to be a tough match, Hibs haven’t won a game in the Challenge Cup yet, but think the coaches will be looking to get a wee run this season, to challenge the young boys against stronger opposition

Wonder if he's any relation to slightly bonkers 80s goalie Robin Rae?

Joshua Rae (born 17 October 2000) is a Scottish footballer who played as a keeper for Leeds United.

Youth Career
Started his career with Hamilton Academical.

Made his Hamilton Under-20’s debut at just 13-years-old, their youngest ever player at that level.

Had a trial at Atletico Madrid in 2014.

Turned down Everton to sign for Celtic in March 2014.

Moved to Leeds United in July 2017.

Had a trial with Blackburn Rovers in June 2019.

That's the boy. Sure it was the night before he was due to start in goal at Dens Park, due to an injury to either Jim MacArthur or Alan Rough (my memory is hazy about this).

He used to like driving cars that didn’t belong to him did Robin. I remember seeing him reeking in Misty’s nightclub in Porty back in the day. Roughie was injured and the bold Robin started the game the next day. Ended up being a prolific striker in the juniors.

Yes. I have heard of that ridiculous football cliche.

A goal drought is something that happens to 20 goal a season strikers and doesn't normally effect their general play.

Not youngsters who are still nowhere near to holding down a place in the team, let alone scoring 20 goals.

You may well be proven right but as he has only played a couple of games imo it is far too early to have formed the opinion you seem to have of his ability. Give the boy a break.

Oli just needed a goal, hopefully that kick starts his season

Don't know how many more chances we can give him. He's a passenger at the moment. Need another striker in asap.

Really impressed with Tommy Block and Porteous was on a different level to everyone on the park (including Slivka) by a country mile.

Disagree with your Slivka point, I thought he cruised through the game like Dylan did, and his use of the ball was consistently better than anyone else.

Are we really saying that only positive posters are welcome here ??

Isn’t diversity of opinion a good thing ...

Trolling fair enough - but if people don’t like the current state - then surely it’s fair to hear their views

Having a pop at Doidge in a Hibs U21 v Elgin thread, a game he wasn't involved in, is next level zoomer behaviour. Hibs fans desperate for our own players to fail. I don't get it.

Up to standard for what? To play for Hibs & be an effective striker? The facts certainly suggest so. Oli hasn't started a game since February & that was against Celtc away. He scored in his previous 2 games. He's usually been brought on late in the game to try & rescue a lost cause. He has the best goals to starts ratio of any player at ER, 12/21 & all his goals were from open play. He has 7 U-19 caps & 3 U-21 caps & is still 21 years old. If Oli was playing for another Scottish Club this board would be clamouring to sign him. We all have different opinions, that's fine. It's also fine to criticise players but to suggest we "bin" a young talented player who you haven't seen start a game for 6 months is perverse.

The fact he hasn’t started a competitive game for 6 months, not even in the league cup group stage, surely says something does it not?

He’s completely stalled development wise - he’s at an age where he needs to play. We have a small squad so we can’t carry players who aren’t contributing.

I don’t think we’d be clamouring to sign a striker who hadn't played for that length of time.

Spot on mate, find it incredible the amount of stick Oli Shaw gets, he's young and still learning his trade. As the stats you've produce suggest, he's a good player, with lots of potential, worth time and investment. As a support, let's get behind our young players and give them some backing, they are so important to a club of Hibs size.

He's certainly not a young player learning his trade. That's a player who is 16,17 and 18. When he is 19 he should be knocking on the door of the first team like what Porteous was. At 20 he should be in and out of the first team and at 21 he should be a regular. He's learned his trade for the last five year and is 22 in march. I hope the guy starts showing a bit more when he does get his next chance but I'm starting to think that he is not going to push on and be a regular.

Yep, & it's because we only play 1 up front & he was competing with a newly signed striker who earned 2 Scotland caps during his time with us. We've supposedly just paid about £300k for a striker who will probably be on the bench most weeks. Should we 'bin' him also?

If he was at a lesser Scottish Club he would be playing and scoring most weeks, just like Shankland, & we would be clamouring to sign him.

Totally hypothetical. Surely we judge him on what he is doing? Which, at the moment, isn’t very much.

He actually had a good start to last season scoring in Europe and the first two league games. He’s going backwards at the moment though.

He is'nt and if we want to be a top 4 club playing in semi-finals and finals with Europe every year we must get top 4 strikers. Time will tell very shortly. Shankland is'nt a top four striker that's why he's playing for Dundee United.

Great to see Porto back last night and he strolled through the game and while Sunday is a bit to early he is very nearly ready to challenge for a permanent place.

Strange how we see games differently as there were a few young Hibs players out there who looked to me incredibly ordinarily but others were impressed.

Its not fair this level to name them as they are only starting out in their careers and I am not talking about Oli Shaw.

His performance last night was very poor and it really no longer matters what he has done in the past with his goals per game ratio or how much promise he has (or had) nor is it totally a confidence thing.

He is a player going backwards and he seems to be dropping out this managers plans and he doesn't seem to be able to do anything about as being next to anonymous v Elgin is about as bad as it gets.

Its hard to see how he can get decent game time other than an injury to Flo or Doige but on positive side he is bound to get a few chances as a long season unfolds but he must work harder at all aspects of his game.

His body language indicates though he might well benefit from a brand new start elsewhere.
