Where abouts in Edinburgh?
Most won't go further than a few miles.

Used to be first choice but feel it’s gone downhill, Asha portions are huge.
Anyone tried Slumdog?

I personally haven't, but the reviews and posts on the local Facebook page means I'll give it a swerve for now.
Complaints ranging from small portions, bland food, expensive, incorrect orders and long wait times.
We have too many good curry houses in the EH12 to choose from, why take a chance!
Edited to add, I jump about and spread the wealth, but for takeaway I enjoy Spice Lounge (albeit a reduced menu compared to their sit-in), Abidas and Asha's.

Yeah reviews are mixed to say the least.
i like Abidas also but always end up at Asha's as I can walk to it in 20seconds!

I'd go for Lazeez ahead of Asha/Shandon Spice/The Guru.
Mother India is probably my favourite restaurant but never had a takeaway from there.

I used to use Mint in Portobello but it seems to have gone way downhill in the last couple of years.
Voujon at Newington is my go to now. Used to eat in there quite often a few years back and now use it for take away, the food is top notch.

Haven’t tried Slumdog in Corstorphine yet but have used both Leith and Morningside branches, food is fantastic in both and pretty sure Jaspal the owner will get Corstorphine the same after early teething troubles.
Tried Slumdog nearly in Leith not long after it opened.
Take away food at sit in prices, small portion sizes and nothing about the quality that made it memorable.
I felt (the Leith one) was targeting the New Town market rather than down the road where there's just as good and much cheaper.
A few months ago their cars had stickers on them suggesting they were about to be repossessed! They've gone now but there seems to be fewer of them - cars that is!
Appreciate what you're saying Scouse but I'm going to have to hear much better before they get another chance at our Sunday take away.

Many restaurants charge sit in prices even for collected take aways.
I know that it provides the charge for Just Eat deliveries, but for me collecting a take away?
I don't bother any more, especially with eg Blue Dragon Indian made cook at home kits which are brilliant every time.

Since kushis on Broughton Street shut a few years ago, Noor has always been good when I've went. Jahl bhuna and the north Indian garlic chicken in particular I would recommend

I was a Lazeez man until Shandon Spice opened.
Jashaan's was good when it first opened, Shandon will probably put them out of business soon.

Station India takeaway in Portobello has never let me down. They do a meal deal for 1 that easily feeds 2 people.
Sit in, I usually go to Mintleaf on Bernard street

I'm 2 mins from the Elm Row one so very convenient for me even for pickup and the food has always been good. Lacks the unnecessary grease of most other Indians I've had. They've always got the order correct other than one night just before last Christmas where they missed 2 items from a large order and had a bit of an attitude that we were "at it". (We weren't.)
It is a bit over priced but for me the closeness offsets that. And was the "cars with stickers" not La Favorita further down the road?

Next door to the BBQ chippy as you approach Drum Brae RAB from the west, it used to be "The Curry House" after it moved from Featherhall Avenue.

Bloody annoying they are too, Park their vans where the customers park, so no one can get in

Growing up in Livi I used to go to a place in Eliburn, Zaika I think and it was great about 10 year ago or so. I got one last year when I was through and had gone right down hill.
I was in East Calder and my sister recommended Bay Leaf in Pumpherston instead (I assume they will deliver to Broxburn). I went there again about 10 year or so ago to sit in and it was mediocre so never went back. Took her advice and got a take away it was unbelievably good, it was sometime last year. I got a Shakuti curry which I think was their version of a Ceylon. Will be going back to try something else when im next through and getting a Indian.
