I put it to the forum that a minority of pro-pun posters are knowingly and carelessly creating a negative atmosphere on this here online community on a regular basis for their own amusement.

This is trolling and I ask admins to put a stop to it at once.

I propose one day in the .net chokey for every pun posted.

A well-delivered pun, especially when someone has made an unfortunate typo or the like, is something I find very amusing.

They’re chronic. Pages of Hornby puns yesterday - not one of which was funny - which were then brought back up again today for another bunch of them. One or two, fair enough. It’s the desperation to keep it going for as long as possible that is brutal to read.

Bans? Not for me, I'll trust to the admins to decide generally but we could end up going down the wrong path if we just arbitrarily ban what just happens to create a severe reaction for some.

What next?

Ban the folk who make spelling mistakes or mis-use grammar because it upsets the pedants and purists?Ban folk who call celtc celtc because others want to give them the I back?

I could go on...

Trolling should either be allowed or not.See what you mean, but just making the point that if we ban what offends or upsets or frustrates one group or individual then surely the same consideration needs to be extended to anything else that others might want to ban, where will it end?

If I don't like something I'll skip through it or fire a response off but where does the banning end?

There’s nothing we can do about them. Its a discussion board and for some reason some folk seem to enjoy the word play. So be it. I cant but help sigh when the first couple roll in knowing what’s to come.

It’s part of the forum and folk just need to suck it up.

Some questions:

1. Is the pun-ishment retrospective?
2. Is there a statute of limitations of the retrospective pun-ishment to create an oasis of pun free chat on .net or are you not choosing to look back in anger?
3. Does the pun-ishment also apply to deliberately made up transfer rumours, in which case how does the glass houses and stones rule apply?
4. Is there a hard backstop on any retrospective pun-ishment?
