If it was me choosing a team to play St Mirren i would go for it with McGregor Jackson and Mackie at the back, no full backs and add Kamberi up front but Hecky won't.
I would also be looking to bring on Fraser Murray if we are not breaking through after an hour.

St Mirren lost 12 players at the end of last season and too date have only brought 3 in.
Might be towards the end of the transfer window before they get a massive trailer full of loan signings in to bolster their numbers.

Likewise. And then once everyone’s fit I’d have SDG and Lewis back in and Boyle for Newell. That would be our strongest 11 imo.

That’s why I kept him in.. clean sheets in all the league cup games he started. Jackson is clearly better on the ball and is as good as Daz in the air but I think DM has been very good in pre-season.

FWIW Porteous would be my first pick at CB when he’s fit again.

That would be what I would be hoping for too. McGregor has been excellent so far and offers huge motivation to those around him to go along with his speed and strength. Doidge hasn't impressed me too much and I think Kamberi has done enough to start

From what I’ve seen of Jackson so far I think he will provide some proper competition. He doesn’t look like a ‘make the numbers’ up type of signing.

I think it would be really harsh on McGregor to be left out though. He’s been our best defender since Heckingbottom arrived. I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays Jackson though.

Hope we don’t play James at LB.

Him playing there in the first two league cup games was a big part of why we were so slow IMO. Having the natural left footer in Mackie made a big difference in the last two games I thought.
