In what way?

You can view it in France but not England; in N. Ireland but not Ireland.

If you make the choice to live abroad and can't get to games then you are catered for; if you can't make it through no choice of your own (being bedridden or suchlike) then you are not,

These are pretty arbitrary in my book.

Hibs can't legally stream games live in the UK, they can outwith the UK.

I don't think we have the same definition of "arbitrary".

It wasn't meant to be a definition, but an illustration of how the the current rule is anything but arbitrary.

If it's definitions you want -

Arbitrary
adjective
1. founded on or subject to personal whims, prejudices, etc; capricious
2. having only relative application or relevance; not absolute
3. (of a government, ruler, etc) despotic or dictatorial
4. mathematics not representing any specific value an arbitrary constant

I'd be surprised.

I was watching Netflix US on Sunday using my VPN no bother at all and i'd sure their systems will be a tad more advanced than Hibs and whoever they've partnered with. Hope thats the case anyway - can see me tuning in a few times this season if/when I can't make it.

Not always as simple as that

Sadly not all fans are lucky enough to live near ER/Leith/Edinburgh/East Central Scotland

I have a pal in Southampton that’s a massive hibee, had to move there for his wife’s job

Now he pays the club for an international subscription and watches the games live from a vpn on his pc

He doesn’t make a lot of games in a season but this help him watch the hibs and stay connected with his team

Maybe a tad naughty (cough illegal) but really what is the harm?!

He has pals that come round and watch the games so they now support hibs

I’ll really feel for him if he loses this service

I can sympathise with that, but less so for those who live in Edinburgh but choose to watch the live stream instead of either going to the match or simply waiting for the replay a few hours later.

But for me the worst are those who brazenly rip off the live stream to rebroadcast it on Facebook or whatever. They're cheating the club, purely and simply.

Totally agree with these. Just barring people from Edinburgh would be a lot fairer although, even if it were possible to do that, VPN would probably still be an end-around.

We had just over 5000 at the weekend. People arent all in Southhampton. Its a bit weird that so many complain about the team treating it like pre-season when most of the fans are doing the same. And with that im off to the game.

I live in Edinburgh but on holiday in September (my choice). My seat is bought and paid for already (twice if I give it back to the club to sell and chances are it will as I’m missing Hearts and Celtic) and I’ll grab any opportunity available to catch the game, particularly if it’s up for nowt on Facebook.

I don't doubt that, but not everyone that stays local has the means to go whether financial or whatever. Of course it is wrong/illegal though. The club should report the Facebook pages. Although if they did that more would just pop up.

Don't think they can win on this one. There is always a way.

Yes, I have done, and yes now after changing settings to "enable DRM to play" I can now watch a test video. Let's hope it works at kick off! I still think it would have been better to change the system at any time except just before a live match.

My brother is in Canada on holiday and has just attempted to go on and sign up so he can watch it to be told he can't. What a load of pish. It's a tough one.

Obviously you've got individual cases where people feel they are loyal enough to Hibs, either through having a ST, going to most games etc, that watching an illegal stream via FB now and again won't do any harm.

But, as others have pointed out, big picture is these illegal streams starve the club of revenue, either via people not buying a subscription to HibsTV or, worse, not buying tickets to the game.

5. law (esp of a penalty or punishment) not laid down by statute; within the court's discretion

Philippines government bureaucracy is arbitrary.

Rushed home from work and cause of delay only saw second half and listened to half time comments . Good quality sound and picture . Thank you Hibs TV . Liked the commentary - had read a few negative comments here about commentators at other games this month but was impressed tonight with same commentators . Of course commentators make mistakes with names at times but that has always happened on Hibs TV and always will since commentators don`t have benefit of technology of professional channels .

Got up at 4:45 am in melbourne to watch and was very pleased with the quality - much better than i've seen before on Hibs TV live or highlights

Not convinced on the commentary though.. :greengrin

Last season I used Chromecast from my phone to view the match on my TV but today's game never give the Chromecast icon. Did anyone else have the same issue?

Excellent picture quality in Perth WA, looked sharper than normal and not a hint of buffering. If this is the standard going forward I will be extremely happy  Still miss the days of Boozy commentating, he use to get soooooooooooooo excited whenever the ball went into our box :greengrin

I'm in the UK now for a few weeksthough so don't get the international benefits. Hopefully casting will be available again. If not mirroring the screen will have to do.

Edit - actually, if they're trying to stop IPTV services maybe they are disabling Chromecast since I'm assuming it's harder to track the original device that is streaming the content.

Same for me. I cast it from my laptop instead.

Was anyone able to watch Hibs TV directly via a VPN on Tuesday night?

Don’t think anyone will answer that in case they get bombarded with “you should’ve been at the game”. *cough* me *cough*

Hehe, cheers! That's good news. Subscribed last season on a rolling monthly basis and found the service to be generally pretty good. Obviously didn't want to sign up again this season if folk accessing it via VPN were getting blocked.
