the home team play in a horrible colour of strip, but i don't think they are aware off the hibs v heartz rivalry as all the stadium seating is a fetching shade of Green

As it stands we’re 5 places below an extra CL spot. I think a couple more good seasons (i.e. clubs reaching the group stages) would take us there. Of course it depends on how teams from the countries around us perform.

How refreshing to see all four Scottish teams taking care of their first round legs.

Great result for Celtc away in Bosnia after going behind (with 2 stunning goals to boot), and an emphatic win for Sevco in Gibraltar.

A bit tighter for Aberdeen and Killie, but job done.

The four clubs winning brings us closer to an extra place - that makes our chances of Europe greater. It also keeps their players with a heavier workload, meaning they've more chance of dropping domestic games (again, to our benefit).

There’s a couple on this thread that wanted all Scottish teams to win, which all sounds pretty normal in terms of boosting our coefficient.

Until you realise the huns are one of those 4, **** ever wishing them to win a game.

:agree: It's a tin pot mentality when we are hoping teams go out to our own detriment. Hope they lose every game in the league but we need them to get to the Group Stages. Aberdeen doing so as well would help.

CMurdoch

If they do get to the group's it also means a lot more money to our detriment.

Only Celtic and Rangers have any chance of getting to the group stages so no large windfall going Aberdeen's way.

Last weeks 4 wins were worth 0.25 of a point each and the return legs should see at least another 3 wins.
We currently sit 20th and need to get into the top 15 to get another Scottish team into Europe.
We will probably reach that position after season 20/21.
Hibs should never be worse than 5th place from now on so we would be almost guaranteed European football every season.

I can see him having a great season and forcing himself into the Scotland team.

Bohemians knocking Aberdeen out Uefa cup in 2000
Gretna 1 Derry 5
Red Imps beating Celtic
Progres pumping Rangers
Hibs 0 Malmo 7

There's been a few. I'd even add us trading blows with the Fareos team last season like two steaming alcoholics in a pub car park. Got to love Scottish football.

The Malmo result was atrocious because of how many we were beat by. Like you said though, they were a very very good side. I’d be much more embarrassed getting beat by Connahs Quay over two legs then getting skelped by Malmo who were one of the best sides I’ve seen at ER.

Just proves how good a job Clarke did at Killie. Got that extra out of the players. Mind this side was bottom of the league when he took over. They’ll be bottom 6 next season.

Fairly certain of it. Clarke worked them into being much better than the sum of their parts. Whoever was going to follow him in the dugout was on a hiding to nothing. I suspect it’ll be a similar case when DMc leaves Aberdeen.

As sad as it is, Killie will be bottom 6, and I suspect their manager will be gone by Christmas. It’s a pity, because we need strong teams out with the Glasgow sides

That’ll be the Malmo side that won their league the same season then went on to feature in the Champions League group stages. Admittedly it’s a shocking result but nowhere near losing to the likes of Connah’s Quay.

It was embarrassing in terms of the absolute hammering it was, but losing the tie in itself was not embarrassing. On that front, I can't think of any European tie we've lost that is on this level? *waiting to be reminded...*

I actually watch Welsh football on the SC4 channel (yes I know, sad) and the manager of Connah's is a big gruff Scotsman Andy Morrison who played for Manchester City for years and had a great career there, you wouldn't want to mess with him either. Killie were always the most likely side to **** up early doors. They are in for a real struggle this season imo.

I'm not too downhearted though. Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers all progressed with relative ease. Add to that last year we had a decent run, relatively speaking, Rangers reached the group stages, Celtic progressed from their Europa League group and Aberdeen put in a decent performance over 2 legs against an EPL side.

It's an embarrassing result for Killie and in turn Scottish football but overall the last couple of seasons has seen our European performances take a small step forward. It wasn't so long ago that Celtic were going it alone after only 1 round of matches.

I saw talk around Killie on FB mentioning an embarrassing result. I honestly thought it meant they had squeaked through, never in my wildest dreams did I think they had been put out. It doesn't matter which way you slice it, what an embarrassment for Killie and for Scottish football. I usually look for mitigating circumstances and any excuse I can find to put a less negative spin on bad results for Scottish teams in Europe.

Not this time … that's a shocker and there's simply no excuse for it … embarrassing for our game simple as that.

We are currently in 19th place having overtaken Switzerland and are now only 0.375 of a point behind Serbia who are down to 2 of their 4 teams still standing and only a further 0.125 of a point behind Croatia. Wins tonight for Aberdeen and Rangers would be worth 0.5 of a point.

Would that be for a place in the group stages? Or is there one more round after Slavia Prague?

They’d play Slavia Prague to get into group stages

Dinamo have had some cracking players come through. Mandzukic, Eduardo (albeit Brazilian born), Modric, Kovacic off the top of my head.

Very good league and Rijeka will rightly be favourites.

Sime Vrsaljko also a product of the Dinamo youth system.

The Rijeka stadium is really stunning by the way, sort of built into rocks on one side and the sea on the other, very cool. Should be a good tie.

Arrived in Croatia last night for a holiday and was flicking through the channels and found Killie v Rangers full match rerun on one of their sports channels. Thought this weird until i remembered the Huns have two Croatians, must be why such an odd game was on Croatian TV.

Fantastic website, don’t need anything else for keeping up on coefficients etc.

Also backs up my belief that contrary to the thoughts of many, our league is no more ‘pub league’ than many of the better thought of leagues in Europe.

If Celtic lose this tie are they out altogether or do they parachute down?

They parachute into the EL...would play the winners of Sherriff Tiraspol, AIK Solna

Good response from Celtc after going behind.

Nice to see young Lewis Morgan getting regular playing time this season. He's quite comfortable out that left side.

The Celtc LB is honking.

Did the referee just book the Cluj manager? Is that a new rule?
