Why has porteous changed to 25? Most would keep the original number until they get a first team number

Does anyone really care about the 1-11 numbers anymore? I know I wouldn't if I was still playing.....

Why isn't Porteous #5 or #6? And why are Shaw and Murray keeping their 30s numbers? A bit bizarre if you ask me, suggests we're still waiting on some first team players.

Hibs in general never really seem to fill our squad numbers. We have big gaps in our numbers every season which as someone with mild OCD is very irritating. :grr:

I would have put money on Jackson or Porteous taking the number 5 jersey.... interesting.

Yes and no.... I loved getting 17/18/19 when I was a first team player back in the day when it was unusual for the first 11 not to wear 1-11....

These days it’s anyones guess why each player gets their squad number.

Here's what I would have done.

1. Marciano
2. Gray
3. Whittaker
4. Hanlon
5. Porteous
6. (reserved for DM)
7. Horgan
8. Slivka
9. Doidge
10. Boyle
11. Newell
12. (blank)
13. Dabrowski
14. Mallan
15. Murray
16. Stevenson
17. James
18. Jackson
19. (reserved for striker)
20. Shaw
21. Mackie
22. Kamberi
23. Allan
24. McGregor
25. Gullan

There. Numbers 1-25 all filled except 6 and 19 for new signings and 12 for the Hibs fans. Perfect. Why don't we just do that?

Think some of might just like the number they have
Gray 2, Lewis 16, Paul 4 and Daz 24 are iconic Scottish Cup winning numbers

How old is he and where does he play?

He’s just 15, played for the Development side against Huddersfield Town last month
Played left back, but can play much further forward

Anyone know how young Shanley is developing?

Thanks for that. Interesting that he's attracting attention already.

I know that Jayden will be 16 shortly after the new season starts, currently plays for Scotland Under 16's and was Hibs Academy Player of The Year.

What else should i know about him?

****, too late!

Left back etc

Anyone know how young Shanley is developing?

Didn’t play as much last season in the Reserve league, as I thought he would
Probably due to Shaw, Gullan and Lewis Allan playing most weeks
I like Ryan, got something about him, big season coming up for him

Will be interesting to see how Hibs are going to be developing these young lads, with no Reserve League for us

They've all kept theirs.

I don't get this trend the young players seem to like where they keep their original squad numbers, ala Shaw, Murray and Mackie. Seems very Celtic-esque - they've been doing it for years.

:grr:

I have a more severe condition...CDO. Its like OCD 'cept its in alphabetical order. 😎

Some players like having bigger numbers.. dont worry so much about numbers.

They're just numbers not rankings. It doesn't matter as they are only used so the ref can identify who to book...

Does anyone really care about the 1-11 numbers anymore? I know I wouldn't if I was still playing.....

I like the history of it. If you wear the number 4 for example you can look to famous hibernians that played that position and also wore the number. It should be inspirational.

If you don't have 1 to 11 then you work harder to make it yours.

If I were the main striker I'd want the number 9 shirt. If I were Ollie Shaw I should really want it.

I'm not comfortable with throwing away tradition.

What if Oli Shaw wants to be number 32? If Omeonga comes back, will it matter if he’s number 40 again?
