Festival opening ceremony is taking place at tynecastle on the Saturday of the opening week of fixtures.

So a Jambo mate tells me anyway, when I looked online I found details of the event he was talking about but couldn’t find a date for it to see if he was right or not.

Both can be at home on different days. Sky will dictate one on tv so it would mean possibly us at Parkhead unless the hearts fireworks rumour is true. Would love away to Livi first imagine the crowd. Ten minutes.

So they made arrangements for a Festival event at Tynie and as an afterthought sought an away match. After the SPFL and affected clubs bent over backwards to accommodate them re the building of the new stand, I would tell them to bolt.

Because it’s an absolute treck. Midweek games should have to be within a certain radius of the away team. It’s impossible for the vast majority of fans to get there during the week.

Make sure their midweek games are against Aberdeen and St Johnstone (or whoever is closest). Gives them 6 games against the closest two teams to play midweek which is more than enough.

Scottish football needs to do all it can to get fans through the door. Putting teams up at Dingwall midweek where away fans will have to take at least one day off work to go is ridiculous.

Both of them are in Europe on the Thursday so would have been playing the Sunday anyway, made it easy for the TV companies to pick i assume.

I would have expected Aberdeen and Herts to be the Sunday as well based on them being in Europe.

I get in England it’s worse. Big difference is that they still get the crowds either way, we don’t. I would usually go to Ross County at the weekend but it’s simply not possible during the week. I’d reckon the majority that would usually go at the weekend will be the same.

Never mind December, our opening round of fixtures is tough i think.

Are Ross County not allowed to get a midweek game at home? Why is it a farce?

A 7/8 hour round trip midweek in December for hibs (and Ross county fans later in the season) is far from ideal. Already an expensive month with a packed fixture list and Christmas. Hardly encouraging fans to attend games. A bigger top tier would help solve this, the few midweek games up there could include ICT, St Johnstone and Aberdeen.

Nah I am sure I've been up there in the dead of winter before and the pitch was okay. It's the Wednesday night journey home that kills me, especially for work in the morning. County put undersoil heating in as it is a requirement for the premiership I think.

The two teams you would try to get to play Ross County midweek are Aberdeen and St Johnstone. Neither play them midweek. Motherwell and Hibs both have reverse fixtures against Ross County midweek and The Rangers and Hearts and Livingston also have to travel up there. At least they avoided Killie and Ross County playing midweek. Ross County play 5 out of their 7 midweek fixtures at home so they have came out of the "draw" quite well. You could argue that it is favourable to them as the away teams will have smaller supports midweek.

The fixtures clearly are not random as we keep getting these tough runs in December and Hearts are allowed to decide where they play on opening day. Why don't the league try to make it so it is easiest for fans from the get go. If TV changes them that at least is their fault.

I'm glad they are back in the league as I love a trip up there but the start of December midweek is about as bad as it could be.

We had planned (hoped) to make a weekend out of it, hopefully next season...

Do people really think the SFA get together and decide we're gonna **** Hibs over in December by giving them harder games? Why would they do this?

Jeezo, people do like to moan about the most trivial of things. The fixtures are what they are, really don't think there's some conspiracy. In fact, we've got a reasonable start with the opportunity to build some momentum before a more difficult run of games.

I might be the only one here that is really looking forward to those December fixtures. One of the major reasons why I wanted the club promoted back to the Premiership for games like those. Don’t understand why people are moaning for moaning sakes?

Probably because it cold and dark, also an expensive time of year

I’m looking forward to them as well. I love when we get a run of ‘big’ games together. :flag:

Could be even more, if we get through to the Betfred Cup semis and final

Understandable for it being the most expensive time of the year.

However the weather, I don’t know what people are expecting for Scottish weather in December? We aren’t in Dubai. You can get all four seasons in the one day

Nah I am sure I've been up there in the dead of winter before and the pitch was okay. It's the Wednesday night journey home that kills me, especially for work in the morning. County put undersoil heating in as it is a requirement for the premiership I think.

Pretty sure it is a requirement.

When are the TV games announced?

It’s game has been announced, then presume when they know who’s still in Europe. Can’t see any of our August games being on TV

Any idea how many games Sky are allowed to show each weekend?

Edit, forgot the Sky exclusive deal doesn’t kick in until 2020

Does anyone know why there are no SPFL fixtures on 17/18 August, 2019?

There seems to be a full programme in the English Premier League that weekend.
