Just a heads up for those going by train.

You can't get a train to Elgin going via Aberdeen, engineering works means the line is shut between Dyce and Huntly. You have to get a train from Edinburgh as far as Dyce then you then have to get on a rail replacement bus service from Dyce to Huntly which takes 1hr 15m then another train from Huntly to Elgin. Total journey time of 5 hours. Better going via Inverness.

Still don't agree with that game being moved for tv. Will be a dead rubber match!

Is it likely to be on TV? Who has got the League Cup rights?

Or take the strain off yourself, and travel on a supporter's bus instead

I don't know why I didn't put 2 and 2 together and realise why it was on a Friday until you said that! Good stuff.

Elgin is a great night out, especially for single blokes, if you get my drift.

For once I'm happy that its being played on the Friday as I have wedding in Perth of all places on the Saturday. Digs booked and will take the car for this one and a drive down to Perth the following day.

Do you think Elgin might make more money from the tv on a Friday deal than they’d take in through the gate on Saturday ?

That would be my hope otherwise it’s kinda daft.

I think they will, tickets will be at most £15 going by previous years as don't think they strayed too far from league prices for the League Cup, and as the game should hopefully be meaningless for Hibs as group will already be won the travelling support might not as big as if it was earlier or a Scottish Cup match. So if it is a few thousand for TV, be better for Elgin.

Is it the sort of place you pull out 20 Regal Kingsize and they all want to touch the packet? :greengrin

Big city boys are in town. :cb

We all pay for a seat and then stand at Pittodrie and Parkhead when we are there.

Won't make any money from TV. Those days long gone when you got compo. Money all goes into the overall prize pot.

It does but it has jumped from £54 to £75 (not including breakfast) in the space of a few days.

HC, Elgin has a pretty small town centre where most of the pubs/bars are located. If you want cheap and cheerful, The Muckle Cross (Wetherdspoons) is up the far end, a bit more central is the Granary (I like it in there) but there are quite a few places around the pedestrian centre. All these bars I would say are 10-20 mins walk from Elgin FC's ground (which is basically behind TESCO).

I've spent a fair bit of time there.

The best bars in the town centre (5 minute walk from the ground) are:

The Granary
Muckle Cross (weatherspoons)
Badenochs
Droothy Cobbler (craft beer hipsters, maybe not a typical away day pub)

Rougher pubs in town are The White Horse and the Victoria, small pubs but suitable for away day boozing

There is also a bar at the stadium
