Yep. He turned it down.

Hertz offering him the chance to replace Harry Potter maybe? Ah no they're the big team so it will be Mourinho they'll be going for.

Cheap option.

I fear it is.
Dundee Utd, Inverness and perhaps Dunfermline will be teed up for a fast start.
If McPake can't match them he could be done by Christmas.

Me too.

Really liked him as a player, he wasn’t without faults as a defender but he certainly gave everything he had. If he can get his players to play with the same attitude he played with he’ll be a good manager.

I met him when he was Hibs captain and he didn't come across well, I was left really disappointed. (On the other hand, Eoin Doyle was a star). But I'm gonna be the bigger person and wish him well- he will need it for sure!!

Whole hearted player, with limited ability. Always treated the club with respect, wish him good luck. He’s going to need it.m

Why do you think they have big problems? He has other options. Dundee are certainly not the biggest. But certainly no slight on them as a club.

Curious to hear your thoughts though.

Stubbs was far more expensive than their current manager. In fact Stubbs was on more than Jack. Nowhere near a cheap option for St Mirren. Main reason they panicked.

From my experience with him and a few other stories from people who encountered him the guy was/is a complete bellend.

As a player/captain I wasn't his biggest fan, but we had a lot worse in the squad at the time.

Can't really see him having much success as a manager. We shall see...

Yep. He turned it down.

That's mad, who's he going to instead?

Also, good to see Dundee posting that massive club statement about wanting to sign a manager with a solid win percentage and top tier experience instead of a young unproven guy.. Then appointing a young unproven guy.

What other options? Won't be Killie if they're looking at the likes of Di Matteo.

As someone said above St Mirren would be an option, there was chat of Kearney possibly leaving so there may be something in that.

Maybe a role at Hearts as sounds like there maybe some coaching reshuffle going on.

He was out with a back injury for a lot of it as I recall and got rushed back when clearly not ready towards the ill fated run in.

Yep the admiral was deemed better then Paul H got injured and honestly cant remember who then played centre back, horror show of a team.

Me too, the Malmo defeat was the lowest I've felt as a Hibs fan and for all his heart on the sleeve leadership McPake encapsulated that time for me.

I liked McPake, he was immense when he was here on loan and there was a real clamour to get him permanently. He wasn't the greatest defender in the world but I don't think anyone could accuse him of not giving his all.

Good luck to him.

Best of luck in your new career James.

I'm sure you'll put 100% into the job, - as you did every time you pulled the Hibs jersey on.

Jimmy doesnt half get about. Was he not in charge of Hibs for a game? Vaguely remember him assisting (Fenlon/Calderwood?).

Couldnt agree more that game given we were only 2 down was IMO all about not conceding and staying in the game. No we concede with virtually every attack they had and to be honest 7 was letting Hibs off on that night. Shameful that it was the night that we were remembering our most famous goalscorer.

There was a time when James was a cult hero at Hibs. I seem to recall injuries took there toll and he faded.

A guy who gave the impression he was was proud to pull on the green shirt. All the best James on your appointment.

I remember Mcpake trying to put in a crunching challenge and being made to look a total arse, leading to a goal for them. Rowan Vines debut too 😂

To be fair, there are only a select band of managers - mainly your top boys - that meet those ridiculous criterion that were mentioned a few months back. Maybe the chairman has lowered his sights now.

With a quite tremendous volley if I remember right, opposite end from a very noisy Hibs support. I came away that night thinking we still had a chance.........
