Really looking forward to this one tonight. Over 10k sold so far. Should be cracking atmosphere. Tight one to call but fancy United to take a slight lead into Sundays 2nd leg.

Will be a tight game. Not particularly bothered who goes up - United will be welcome back into the league as one of the bigger clubs, but if they stay down we get Dundee derbies and a really exciting Championship next season.

United need to win today by at least a couple to stand a chance and I realise the irony in that considering how we get relegated.

The lower league team will in non Butcher circumstances need to get the premiership team dreading the second leg to stand a chance once fatigue sets in.

Disagree IMO. I think a win win was UTD up and Hamilton down.

Losing saints is a loss to the league.

They should make all play off games a one off at Hampden over the weekend or on the same day like they do in England.

St. Mirren would be a loss to the league IMO.
Fancy them to do United anyways.

Absolutely agree St Mirren would be a loss. Swapping them with Dundee United would be better than a swap with ICT or the like though.

I’ve got a mate who is a St Mirren fan. I don’t have any Arab mates.

That said, I feel Utd should be in the Premiership. Just a shame Hamilton aren’t in the Playoffs. Would love for them to go down and Utd up.

I have a very good St Mirren fan as a friend - she actually came through for the Aberdeen game as I was using my mate's 2 x ST for the last time - and no Arabs amongst my mates. As such, it's Come on the Buddies for me :agree:

With a crowd of 12-14 k. Have the match at ER or even Dens. FWIW I hope DU get thru coz I was sad to see the way Saints treated our Cup Winning Manager.

United for me for a number of reasons, mainly family related.

Also would be good to see a Championship team come up as the odds are stacked against them in the way the playoffs are set up. Are we still the only club to be relegated via the playoffs? Be nice to get that off our back as well.

English people do these play offs much better with their one off finals.

Hampden isnt nessecarry as the crowds don't warrant it but there are more than enough 20,000 stadiums in Scotland that would turn the play off into a cup final.

A lot of Dundee United fans up here aren't too concerned about St Mirren. Think the cup win over them has made them a bit too confident.

I’m not expecting Man City vs Barcelona. Just a good game of football that you can say at the end of it, I really enjoyed that. Two teams giving it their all out there.

As a neutral, really looking forward to the two games. I think this is the first premiership play off game where both teams have been in fairly decent form coming into the final. St Mirren undefeated since the split and Dundee United only losing after they had secured second place. United seem to have tightened things up at the back but will the fact St Mirren have been playing against teams of a higher standard give them the edge? Could go all the way to penalties but think the Buddies just sneak through in the end.

I doubt it, they averaged over 5,000 in a fairly poor season(they would have been favourites, and had a terrible run) without the Old Firm, Dundee, the Dons or us

Not really surprising, given Hibs are by far the biggest club to be regulated through the play offs.

Standard of football in the 2nd half tonight was dire. Couldn't put it down to nerves.

Commentators seem to be saying Neilson has done an amazing job, has he really he was given loads of money to spend on players in Jan and he got into the play offs, whoopee, doo. They clearly could win the second game but hope not as they looked poor and wasnt a good game generally. The two Kyles for Saints look half decent.

Didn't watch that game but I'll probably watch the second leg.

Even if the football isn't the best it's always good to watch a game with something riding on it, especially if it involves Hibs in a way. I have a lot of mates who support United so them coming up would mean at least 3 pretty big days/ nights out for me.

United coming up might spell bad news for Hibs though, as I suspect they might have a wee bit of cash to spend.

I'm looking forward to the English play-offs this weekend, I have next to no interest in the Scottish Cup final.

Went into my den to watch this and left the wife with her soaps. Was looking forward to a close, exiting game but it was garbage. Hardly two passes strung together all evening. Will watch again on Sunday as just has to be better. McMullan showed good pace for Utd and McAllister showed some nice touches for Saints but neither team, on that showing, would be anywhere near top six.
