Hard to argue with this. Anyone blessed enough to see the great Joe Baker could never leave him off their list. I also saw Joe feed off the genius that was Bobby Johnstone.
Just really thinking about players that gave you that extra buzz!
From that sixties team you could add Pat Quinn & John McNamee.
As you say all of the Tornadoes but Crops & Brownlie especially
From later in 70's Ally MacLeod
From more modern times, Boozy, Fletch, Deeks, our 2 Moroccans, Scotty (as an attacking mid), Latapy, Sauzee, Scotty Allan, Leigh, JC ( against Huns & mini Huns) & of course SDG!

Tbh I think its too difficult a choice
If you had asked me top 5:
Goalies
Defenders
Midfielders
Forwards
I would still have struggled
But based on their abilities at the time I saw them, not their previous or future careers I would go for:
Stanton
Brownlie
Edwards
Duncan
Gordon
Really sorry to have to exclude
Schaedler, Blackley, Cropley, O'Rourke & McGinn
Like a previous poster I grew up with the Tornadoes and whilst winning the cups we have, especially the Scottish, has been brilliant in terms of ability and entertainment I haven't seen anything that comes remotely close to the Tornadoes.

I was actually going to put Alan Gordon in due to his heading prowess and phenomenal goal scoring record with wee Corky but Stevie Archibald just oozed class always gave himself extra time on the ball with his expert first touch and control aware of everything going on around about him and an expert finisher

I know they will be more or less the same as people around in those eras but i cant get away from my No1 guy. He was imense in every way and had a pride in that jersey like no other.
Like many i have loads of memories of him in a Hibs jersey and talking of them fills me with pride in the fact i can say that i saw him play, i say him lead and i saw him stand above everyone else on that field.
I know that all generations have their heroes and he is mine. I make no apologies for going on and on about him he was Pat Stanton also known as "GOD"!

Can’t understand those quoting Best.He was a shadow of a footballer when he was with Hibs.
He was absolutely garbage at Hibs and between his no shows and his half fit appearances he was a big part in getting that team relegated. Just read Eddie Turnbulls book for more damming quotations.

2. Riordan.

Goram should be erased from Hibs history for being a sectarian bigot by his own admission and his later sympathys towards terrorist organisations.

The older you are, the harder it is to answer the question. So, with a bit of poetic licence, a slightly different slant from me to cover the 6 decades I’ve been a Hibby. Could give 5 or 6 lists with completely different names each time for each decade but to answer the thread heading(almost)? Here we go:
60s - Pat Stanton
70s - Joe Baker
80s - John Collins
90s - Russell Latapy
00s - Derek Riordan
10s - Leigh Griffiths

*Sir David is not there as a ‘top’ player. There are many better footballers who could be on the list. He’s there because he’s by far my favourite ever Hibs player, for obvious reasons.

I think Grays leadership qualities and commitment would compliment any of these great players I've seen as choices.

I can’t do five, I just can’t. Boyhood heroes to hero worship,at an age I should know better.
Stanton, Brownlie, Edwards, Blackley, O’Rourke, Duncan. Big leap to Ally McLeod, Gordon Rae, Collins, Mickey Weir, Geebsie, Keith, Darren Jackson, McGinlay, Sauzee Latapy, Mixu, Boozy, Thomson, Brown, Murphy, Ivan. And the entire 2016 squad.
Feels dirty to leave any of them out.

That is tough. I'm going for maybe not the best but, great players and heroes of mine too.
Des Bremner. Huge hole in the team when he left
Ally McLeod. What a talent. Casual as you like and 99 goals in pretty poor teams
John Collins. Great player who was great to watch and gave Hibs an extra 2 years when he could have left sooner
John McGinn. My son cried when he left and I wasn't far off it. Watch Villa games regularly now and cheer him on as if he was still at Hibs. Made an impact that I can't remember many others making
Arthur Duncan. Record appearances and tried his heart out in every game. Took some abuse later on at the end of his time with Hibs but tried 100% none the less. I met him a load of time as well as he was a pal of a pal of my uncles.
So many to choose from and it is tough to get to 5. Honourable mentions for Keith, Pat McGinley, Deek, Le God, Latapy, Brown, Archigoal, Gordon Rae, Roughie, Hiram, Mitchell and numerous others.
Did I just cheat there and name about 20??

Like a few others on here I've been watching Hibs too long to keep it to just 5 so here we go:
1960s - Pat Stanton. My first sporting hero and the greatest Hibs player of all time
1970s - Alan Gordon/Jimmy O'Rourke
1980s - Steve Archibald
1990s - Franck Sauzee
2000s - Russel Latapy
2010s - John McGinn
Sorry but I just can't choose between O'Rourke and Gordon from the Tornadoes team.

Glad someone else chose Peter. I remember him scoring 2 at Ibrox in our 3-1 win. Got the scores on the BBC but not much else. Had to wait until The Pinks arrived and asked my dad for the money 3d to buy one. 1968 or 69 it much have been. OMG. Fifty years ago
