I don't normally start threads about OF-related stuff that won't negatively affect them, but this one's pretty big.

Celtic have offered Mourinho a contract.

Won't happen, but would make for great entertainment if it did.

He's surely one of the most expensive managers in the world though - even with a dodgy season a Man U.

He surely won’t accept. Massive step down.

I thought Rodgers to Celtic was big, Mourinho would be huge.

£70k per week for 4 years and guaranteed Champions League football???

Just think of the cash they've saved since Lennon went in, probably £30k per week saving which is already £240k, it's be nearer £900k by the time the new boy starts and it can subsidise that new salary.

I don't see how they can afford him, his contract at Manchester Utd was worth approximately £20 million a year.

I don’t think he needs the ££.

I don’t think he needs the ££.

He doesn't but I honestly don't see Mourinho moving somewhere that he's going to get a paltry wage in relation to what he's used to.

I'd be very surprised if Mourinho's at Celtic next season.

No danger. The mans ego is too big to be seen sitting in away dugouts at Dingwall and Hamilton.

He would employ an away manager for those games. May be a role for Lenny

I wouldn't rule it out purely on the grounds that he loves spending time in Scotland, we live in a fantastic European country (soon to be a fully fledged real country too) and Mourinho did his UEFA coaching badges in Scotland with the SFA.

Not as if he needs the cash. Stay in Scotland 2/3 years and bag half a dozen trophies. Easy boost to the CV.

Aye don’t get me wrong there isn’t a hope in hell he will be there 😂😂. I think he will end up in Italy.

And rightfully so. Won 3 premier league's, 2 serie A, la Liga, 2 champions leagues, 2 Europa leagues and many more cups. He's much better than that and he'll get a very good job next.

Would that actually boost his CV? I'd be embarrassed to put that on my CV if I was him. At worst he'll get an international job.

Might bring his sense of humour back? I like him, but the last few years he's become a right fanny.

He's already been turned down by PSG due to his lack of Scottish League cups apparently. :greengrin

Celtic themselves have already said it’s a lot of rubbish.

Nae chance they would even bother, and even less chance he would come to Scotland.

I don't think Lennon will get it, though.

Like Celtic are going to approach a manager who will want to make purchases in the tens of millions. As daft rumours go this one will likely be proved to be complete bollocks.....

Except its not guaranteed is it? 4 rounds of qualifiers to negotiate.

Rumours like this clearly show that silly season is well under way.

He could work for free for the next four years living off his Man Utd payoff.

He’s is not going to get one of the big Euro clubs this summer so he might fancy the challenge.

When you're still one of the best managers around, you can afford to be conceited, if that's what you are alluding to?

Given his achievements and stature it would have to be the biggest coup likely ever made by Scottish football, the Souness influx, Gazza, Gerard and the like wouldn’t be able to top this. Just can’t see it though. Wages would be problematic enough before you need to sell the prospects of playing Hamilton and Livingston 3 times a season along with the harsh truth that he’s never going to achieve any significance in Europe which I doubt he’s thrilled by. Slightest bit of domestic pressure and I’d reckon he’d want out straight away anyway

His Porto team that defeated Celtc in the uefa cup final used every 'dark art' cheat available to them to win that game. They are still despised by the weegies.
His teams generally play negative, eye bleeding, cynical football.
The complete opposite of "the Celtic way".....
I mean, FFS, Lennon is already getting hounded for the quality on show and he's just led them to title #8.

These are just another couple of reasons I think there's zero chance of him coming to manage in Scotland.

Mourunho is a cheque book manager. Can’t see him coming to build a competitive champions league team and won’t have the budget to make them competitive straight away.

Celtic have poured cold water on this and have suggested that it's his agent trying to attract suitors.

Was he a cheque book manager when he won both European trophies with Porto?

He won the CL with Inter... Not sure he out spent his European rivals there.

For what it's worth, he had a style that succeed for a while and is no longer workable at the big clubs he wants to manage.
