Wtf are they all about? I just don't get why they think they'll encourage folk to open an account.

The text at the ends says they are committed to their branches for at least two more years. With banks shutting down all over it would be a place for people to bank. Not sure they are in Scotland in huge numbers though.

Nationwide are a good all rounder. Decent savings, cashback credit card which is free to use abroad, decent app and do good referral deals for switching to their current account.
