Interestingly they dominated the tournament in the late 50s/early 60s winning four times. Since then only been in two finals pumped by Gers and the Saints. 57 years and waiting. Why they see it as the wee cup.

That St Mirren final was a cracker!

Because they haven't won it in 57 years.

It's quite amusing to think that if you are under the state pension age you are realistically only likely to have any recollection of one of the Edinburgh clubs winning both major trophies competed for in Scotland. Ironically the team responsible for that memory aren't the self proclaimed big team.

I've seen us lose League Cup Finals to Ross County and Livingston, so I'm keeping my mouth shut with this one.

And Rangers and Celtic and Aberdeen. We lost to everyone.

Aye but anyone age 12 and up has seen Hibs win at least one League Cup, whereas for Hearts you need to be at least 62.

A team who were a league above us and a team who were above us in the league at the time.

Exactly as embarrassing as losing to a St. Mirren team below you in the league. :agree:

Poor record but they've still won it more times than we have....

They're too big for the League Cup have you not heard?

And Queens Park have won more Scottish cups than Hibs or Hearts. It's the fact they've no won it for so long which is the funny part.

"You've no won the wee cup since '62" is what we should be using and one I'm disappointed hasn't caught on yet.

I'll be happy if at the end of the season we've still won both cups more recently than them

Dissapointing, but not quite as bad as losing to those other two.

The wee cup thing is just to do with the fact we had won it a few times since they have. Just trying to belittle Hibs achievements there. They would love to win it. The Scottish Cup win will always be tops, but the 91 and 07 League Cups are both special memories.

This. If they were to win it, they would no longer pathetically call it the “wee cup”.

It certainly was !. Just like the league/League-cup/Scottish-cup/UEFA-cup and the occasional Champions-league, they'd won it before a ball was kicked - yet once again, we all got to savour and enjoy 'Reality' giving them a monumetal boot in the plums !

Since 1962,
Since 1962,
You haven't won the League Cup,

Don’t like anyone referring to it as the “wee cup”, even in jest.

It disrespects a tournament that’s classified as a major honour and belittles a trophy that both Hibs and Hearts legends held aloft.

We had nine seasons in a row when we didn 't get out of our league cup section to contest the knock out stages while Hearts were winning it for fun.

And in those 57 years Hearts have lost two finals and won none. We have been in 8 winning 3.

I'm old enough to remember the 1962 League Cup final. Norrie Davidson scored for Hearts. Future Hibbies in the team were Barry, Marshall and Willie Hamilton.
Hearts had a very good leftback called Davie Holt who didn't fulfill his promise.

Holt played for about 10 seasons for Hearts and got half a dozen caps as well as playing for the Olympic team earlier in his career.A reasonable career but suffered internationally as we were fond of squeezing OF players into the team.
