As for 4th the fact we are still 3 pts above a team who were 11 ahead of us 2 months ago is some achievement...some should just be happy with the turnaround since Lennon left

As disappointing as the result was and the way we just stopped after the goal was I think that’s 10 unbeaten and still undefeated in the league under Hecky so given how we looked a few months ago it’s been a dramatic improvement.

Can only keep picking up points and seeing how other results go with regards 4th but the target for the new management team was set and met some time ago so it’s not all doom and gloom

PeeJay
28-04-2019, 01:17 PM
Pretty poor performances from far too many in the team - they'll be overjoyed with the point as we were the "better" of two poor outfits, wasted opportunity though.

Our comedy defence really needs to ask itself some serious questions - too many ball watchers and players out of position - Stevenson lucky not to get a red for a petulant lash out at an opponent -

Really disappointing. We had Hearts on the ropes during that period when we missed the pen and got the own goal, then we take our foot off the gas...
Milligan should have been replaced soon after we went 1-0 up with Agyepong or Gauld.
Big opportunity missed.

Hearts changed their shape, and went for it. Thats what resulted in us having to defend more, and the guy that according to most is crap, scored a good goal after setting up the wide player with a battling challenge that he eventually won against Daz.

Yes we should have won, but we never sat back, we were pushed back and just got caught by one sucker punch goal.

Apart from one theatrical save in the first half, Rocky never had a shot to save. We on the other hand missed a penalty, Slivka misses a sitter and we do score a fortunate own goal. As usual the game was very close and we should have won, but we never took our chances and that is what has cost us.

Pete

Thought we were comfortable in the second half until they scored.

It just shows you how a goal can change the dynamic of a game...they looked like the only winners after that and we shat it, looking nervous.

A draw is disappointing but we’ll get new faces in the summer and improve

It was a trouser job we sat back and were totally unable to get near the ball in the final 20 minutes. Even after they scored we did nothing and could have lost.

Poor last 15 mins after dominating the whole game, I understood Slivka for Flo but he was just as poor. They came back into be cause we played 1 up and 5 in the middle, 3 ch's strolled it against a lone striker. Either play 3 attackers and give them problems or 4-4-2 but 1 up and Omeonga out wide left is not it. Flo comes off Horgan has to go on the left and Slivka to the right as he was poor through the middle.

Exactly, that was a bad result, we should have won that today, slack play cost us, gray was a million miles away from the winger and then no one near the striker when he scored

Bit of a smash and grab by them but I felt we ran out of steam. It has pretty much been the same team since Heckingbottom came in.

We sat back after scoring, which is certainly not some unique to this Hibs team and that along with Hearts bringing on a second striker changed the game.

Overall I didn’t think we played overly great, they were just worse. We got a bit of luck with the goal and yes we missed a penalty and to be honest I could not really see it but there did not look like there was much more contact than the one they did not get in very similar circumstances at Tiny.

Definitely 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained but the players were quite rightly dead on their feet and perhaps an earlier sub may have helped. Who knows. Hopefully we have done enough to stay above them until the end of the season.

Typical derby. We were the much better team but never took our chances and our decision making in the final 3rd at times was poor, particularly the 1st half. 2nd half, one way attack and the only way they could stop us was by fouling us time after time. Got the penalty and we missed it before we deservedly took the lead. What I hated after that, was we seemed to sit off them and invite pressure onto ourselves. Then on the very rarest of occurrences in the 2nd half, they go up the pitch and score. We should have had the game won by then but that’s football for you. Don’t take your chances, it comes back to sucker punch you.

We had stopped playing long before they scored. As soon as we scored actually.

Heckingbottom should have recognised that and changed it. We needed to freshen it up.

Im never impressed when someone says in the press they dont care where they are (Very different from what they are thinking in their head). Looked a bit that way today from McNulty perhaps. PUNT.

Immediately thought of McNulty's comments in the press about his Hearts pals, when he missed the penalty. Set himself to miss it. Should do his talking on the pitch. Foot firmly in mouth.

Plain as day. Major tactical mistake that cost us the game.

I heard something on the radio about the 4th official using offensive language towards Heckingbottom today, seems to have started from someone on the hearts bench saying something to the 4th official.

Anyone else here this?

What did he do,I wasnt watching him

Because of who was reffing, let them away with murder, could've had 2 players off with 2nd yellows, allowed Soutar to foul all game.

The replay showed it was retaliation after being kicked by Ikpeazu who was already on a yellow and got away with starting it all and fouled every time he was near the ball. Stevenson still shouldn't have lashed out but it was out of provocation rather than petulance.

[QUOTE=Borderhibbie76;5775077]Far too many as usual on here were writing Hertz off and thinking we would just walk it today...its never the case in a derby regardless of form going into it...I wish some would just learn their lessons on here honestly.

As for 4th the fact we are still 3 pts above a team who were 11 ahead of us 2 months ago is some achievement...some should just be happy with the turnaround since Lennon left

Agreed, when was our last unbeaten run like this?
Disappointing today but missed chances cost us not the manager. He has been excellent overall - would have been great if he had punched the 4th official’s teeth in and Thompson’s too!

We scored because we were the better team and playing better football but the moment we scored that all stopped - for me that shows our players need more work done on their mentality !. Sitting back againt s***e like hearts just has no logic !

As usual the game was very close and we should have won, but we never took our chances and that is what has cost us.

my thinking aswell, saves me having to type:thumbsup:

Lost count of the number of yellow cards they got, incl one of their reserves. Appeared to be taking it in turns to hack the hell out of our players - as they were unable to compete at football.

Provoked and petulant then :greengrin - but it is a red card ... doesn't matter now ....

That is a well known hearts tactic, circular fouling to ensure best chance of avoiding bookings and second bookings, dirty bassa's.

Heck has been great but he didn't react to Levein's tactical changes and the extra energy they brought. We could have done with Marv coming on when they started to win the 50 50s. How they kept 11 on the park is beyond me Clare, Itchybaws and Djoum could all have been sent off

Speaking of the 4th official, what was with the sudden change to a multi ball system when hearts were chasing? The ball had only run down the not gone out the ground.

Aye where I’m at also.

Europe was tough before today and it’s tougher now. 10 unbeaten however and as good as 4 points with the goal difference above hertz.

Good grounds for optimism for next season when Heck gets his signings in, he’s done well with what we have and had a good chance to assess them all so no excuses for not hitting the ground running and getting the recruitment right.

Lennon was here just a few games too long or Heck may have got us in 4th already. It's not impossible but will be a huge ask and realistically we need 7 points from 9 and an extension of our unbeaten run to 13 including all the top six games. That is unlikely imo but who knows. A The Rangers win today and a Celtic win against Aberdeen next week means we go to Ibrox with Celtic having won the league and The Rangers secure in second with nothing to play for. Not over but Killie are big favourites
