I think he's the best referee in the country by some distance.
Still not great, but I'd rather have him than the likes of Walsh, Beaton, Dallas, McLean etc.

That's the game as a contest done then. We will get nothing but yellow cards , red even, they will get away with murder, ( no change there then,) he really has swung the game in their favour. Absolute joke of an appointment. We as a Club should lodge a complaint imo

Excellent news, he’s the best referee in the country and hasn’t put a foot wrong in any of our games since 2012.

Thought doctor football would have come out early to say Thomson's injured long term only for him to make a miraculous appearance for Hearts in the cup final.

I'm curious as to why this game isn't being reffed by someone on the FIFA list? I think he came off due to age IIRC but nevertheless, it seems to me that most countries give their top games to their FIFA list guys. Or maybe it's a true reflection of the abilities of our errrrrr, ahem, current elite referees.....

Afraid you haven't been watching how he has reffed us recently then.

He is head and shoulders above most of the rest.

If Thomson referees the game the way that he reffed the Celtic v Aberdeen game I'll be delighted. He dished out cards early and it meant Aberdeen couldn't go kicking everyone without punishment.

Unfortunately, I think he'll referee us like that, and let Hearts away with murder.

The 2-1 defeat last season in what was supposed to be "his last ever game as a top flight official" was utterly dreadful. Let that Adoua or whatever he was called in midfield for hearts away with 5 blatant bookings in the first half.

Apart from Bobby Madden he is probably the ref most likely to be fair in this fixture. The criticism he was subject after 2012 seems to have struck home and if anything he is now more of a liability to them rather than us.

Lewis was lucky just to get yellow and Uche should’ve got a 2nd yellow in the same incident. But by his standards, incredible fairness.

Too many times he waved “play on” to a robust HeArts challenge, mostly on omeonga, and he let it go

If Stephaine had his foot planted, he’d have his ankle smashed on a number of occasions. His agility shouldn’t excuse that still od challenge

He’s a cheating hearts bar steward and should be no where near a derby

7 yellow cards for Hearts players. Got away with constant pulling back of the shirt. Booked the sub rather than giving Ikpeazu a second yellow for a celebration that more than antangonised hibs fans and our bench. Sums Scottish ref's up. Easy option every time unless at Ibrox or Celtic Park

His entire celebration involved running up to our bench and goading them, then goading the West.

I've always been a defender of players giving back stick to fans (especially given we've pretty much been mocking him for the last month), but by the laws of the game that's a second booking and a red card. Why'd Thomson just ignore it?

Not seen anything on the other threads yet but he ignored a stone wall penalty after we missed the first one. McNulty got brought down when through on the keeper. Can't believe he waved play on

Exactly what I thought at the time but having seen the replay the lucky **** in fairness got the slightest of touches on the ball. Wasn’t much but was enough unfortunately

Thought Thompson had a good game overall although he let Djoum commit about 7 fouls before eventually booking him.

Including a wild lunge at Omeonga in the first half that Thomson just ignored. He gave us a good advantage but then conveniently "forgot" to go back and book the maroon thug. That would have stopped about three or four subsequent fouls by Djoum.

Thomson gives Hibs the easy decisions. It gives people the impression he's changed. He hasn't.

Wasn’t Thompson’s fault we didn’t win. Gave us the key decision, the pen, and booked the thugs in maroon. Don’t think any of them deserved a red, Potter had them well briefed to take turns. Hibs lacked killer instinct.
