Interesting read on the BBC about Real Betis.

Does anyone know where the Penas it mentions is in Edinburgh, if it actually does exist?

Cuckoo's Nest I believe?

At least, I've watched a Betis game in there before with loads of Betis fans! Might have just been a random get together mind you.

There used to be a big group of Betis fans, mostly students, who met in a bar in Tollcross. The name escapes me but it's on the same side of the road as the King's Theatre, on the corner. Maybe that is what he is referring to.

Edit - it's the Cuckoo's Nest I was thinking off. That was a few years ago though and reading above it looks like they may have moved on (or there are 2 groups).

Would be a great place to go for a pre season friendly

It would but the stadium is a bit of a tip and it takes an effort getting back into town. I’d go again though. Went to Betis v Racing Santander a few seasons ago, a veritable green fest. Some place.

It looks quite nice in the photos online.

Has it maybe been done up since you were there?

:dunno:

Thought they built a new stadium IP?

No idea. It was 2006 I was there. Don’t think the locals would have taken kindly to relocating. No love lost with the other lot.
I did find this online so maybe....

PS...looks like a restructuring rather than a new one.

Just had a look, Iggy, and they've practically rebuilt the stadium, but on the same site

There's an article about it here (http://stadiumdb.com/news/2017/07/sevilla_betis_complete_stadium_expansion)

Ta.
Interesting. That incomplete South end written about was a sheer drop from the side of the seats as I recall. 1972......that is some wait. Good on them for doing it. The fellah Joaquin was the main man there at the time and I’m glad I wasn’t around when he moved on. They are a passionate set of punters.
