That would have denied the blazers the chance to have a lunch to discuss the possibility of setting up a meeting, with lunch, to discuss his future at which point they would retire to ponder a decision and reconvene a few weeks later with a long weekend at Gleneagles to confirm McLeish would remain in post.

I'd completely forgotten that waste of space Doncaster had inexplicably got another job within Scottish football.

I'm convinced he's just there as a type of human punching bag. He's a handy shield as he's got one of those faces and voices that just make him a magnet for fans criticism whilst others hide in the shadows.
