I know this has been done to death on here before, but what is the thinking man's consensus on this age old debate? I'm asking to make sure I get a West Stand Stone inscription right.

The team = The Hibees
A supporter thereof = a Hibee or a Hibbie right?

I’d say the team is the Hibees. I’d personally call them just Hibs and actually Hibbys. Like ‘come on the Hibbys’

The supporters are Hibbys for me though. That never changes

Hibby singular, hibbies plural. Hibees team and hibee should never, ever be used to refer to a fan.

Don't mind hubz or hobos from another place.

If the team are the Hibees, then as far as I'm concerned, the same term should be given to the club's supporters.
So I'm a Hibee.
My kids and I are Hibees.
If it was good enough for Lawrie Reilly, it's good enough for me.
I also have a Scots dictionary (1995) - it refers to the club's nickname as Hibees and the supporters as Hibees (Hibee (singular).

Don't understand where the random double b comes from.

In any event if I'm writing it down I'll usually try to use our full Sunday name of Hibernian. It's a great name and it ends and debate about how to spell it.

Otherwise I suppose I'm a Hibee, they are the Hibees but, weirdly, look over there - a group of Hibbies.
