View Full Version : Team for Parkhead

Given Celtic's weakness is at right back, left back (in the absence of Tierney) and centre back (where they are down to the bare bones) you might think it would be obvious to play an attacking line-up.
Eddie May got his team wrong v Aberdeen (my personal view) and I would go with this lineup at Celtic Park 4-1-3-2

Marciano

Gray
McGregor
Darnell Johnson
Mackie

Milligan

Gauld
Slivka
Horgan (if fit)

Kamberi
McNulty

(Apologies to Oli Shaw who has scored 2 in 2 but I'd bring him on for either forward round the hour mark)

Ordinarily I'd play a back 5 but we've been utterly abysmal with that all season.

Not sure what the team will be but I see this as free hit so we should be as attacking as we can be.

Starting 3 strikers at Celtic park, really?

I'd probably go something like:

Shaw Kamberi/McNulty

Kamberi on bench so he's hungry, show him he's not un-droppable. rest for the easier games.

of course these threads are pointless as it's bingo trying to guess. we will probably go with milligan and bartley, lump it aimlessly forward as anyone who can retain possession will be on bench.

Not Shaw’s biggest fan but he’s been good in the last two games, thought it was harsh on him being hooked on Saturday.

Replace Shaw with McNulty and that's the team I would go with.

Does seem bit harsh on Shaw, however feel he could still do a job as an impact sub for last half hour replacing whichever of starting two are tiring/ having an off day.

Goalie and back four more or less pick themselves. Slivka and Gauld should start. Likewise Shaw and Kamberi.

The other two places? :dunno:

With a weakened Celtic side, I think we will leave with a point.

They shouldn't after recent games. Bogdan should be straight in and both centre halfs you could argue could be replaced though not sure I would with Milligan. Maybe give Darnell a start with Hanlon.

Think CB might be the best position for him in this team

Bigirimana and slivka should definitely start for me leaving one or two spots in midfield but Daz and Paul have not looked good recently so I think at least one of them should be dropped.

In my opinion it will be McGregor

Unfortunatley for us we can’t really seem to change too much as we have limited options

Mallan will get more space and time to operate against Celtic. Will be vital in terms of his ranger of passing, vision and set pieces.

Johnson in for Hanlon who has been shocking of late imo.

Midfield is huge for us, Milligan was brilliant at the weekend and think he would organise things well and keep the ball under pressure.

Bigi and Slivka have the legs to get about and again keep the ball under pressure.

Don’t think Hibs will go with 2 upfront against Celtic.

I’ve given up trying to predict how Hibs will line up ahead of a game. Horrible watching Hibs just now, especially at home. We don’t have good enough players now to dictate games and keep the ball for a good period of time.

It will be really interesting to see how Hibs approach Celtic at Parkhead, post Lennon. The last few times we have shown a lot of bottle by playing open and attacking them. With no Boyle & Barker we just don’t have any real pace in the team. These 2 plus the midfield 3 we have lost was why we were successful last season.

The way we are playing just now go for a Levein formation against Celtic (4 - 6 - 0) in an attempt to pick up a point. Pains me to say this and is not the Hibs way, but needs must just now.

Sorry I’ve got little optimism about Wednesday’s game. Hope we don’t pick up any more injuries. Celtic away is a game we could do without just now.

Looking at the cup game on Saturday which is huge for us. It is a long shot but with a favourable draw we need to get to the final somehow this season to recoup the cash we will lose from our poor league position.

For the Raith game go for a flat back 4 and find starting places for Gauld & McNulty.

Couldn't disagree more

I know Lennon is gone now but the reason we have been arguably the most successful team Vs Celtic over the past 2 years is because we have always set out to attack them

I would go for this line up, it looks very decent with good options on the bench ...my only thing is has McNulty got more about him than Oli ..? Suppose question is what does it say to Oli about playing well and not getting to keep his place !!
Mallan needs to shift himself and be more involved and work harder !!

Fair enough Horgan had a great game against brown but there's no reason we can't get a similar performance out of this group of players

Obviously different midfield completely but keep thinking back to McGinn’s two goals against them. I really can see Mallan or Gauld ( if they start behind a front two ) scoring if they shoot at the first opportunity they get.

Most goalkeepers this season ( I believe ) don’t expect Hibs to shoot early, but as Shaw proved it against Aberdeen it can be done.

as for team back 4 and 2 up front.

Mallan plaus for me, 11 goals and 10 assists this season makes him a clear choice, we don't have anyone else in the team who's close to being that productive.

I fancy us to get something at Celtic tomorrow, they're ravaged by injuries.

I'd also definitely be starting Birgiramana based on his performance Saturday. Limited evidence but for me one of the roles we've been badly missing - a solid centre midfielder.
