View Full Version : Team for Aberdeen

Will the 3 new boys go straight into a winning team?
Still no Lewis and Agyepong ?
No idea how the midfield sets up
Only pace we have in the wide areas is Horgan who went of injured at St Mirren
I don't even know what our strongest 11 is or our best formation. Need 2 up front though

I would normally agree but Aberdeen are like land of the giants at the back. Shaw is a decent prospect but the physical side of the game is still his biggest area to improve on . For that reason I would go with McNulty (who incidentally I have no idea how physical he is :greengrin)

thats pretty much what I was thinking, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we play one up front and the Bartman in midfield. Certainly until the hour mark. And if games still going ok for us then another striker coming on.
and couldn’t argue if Whittaker keeps his place at left back. He didn’t do much wrong against St Midden.

Shaw seems to make more of an impact coming off the bench, and as has been stated Aberdeen are big and strong at the back. If Bigiriama can fill the McGeough role then I think we can really hurt them, but I've never even played FIFA admittedly.

Feel the team has to be set up 3-5-2 to stop Aberdeen getting down the wings!
Their big fella up front banging in goals mostly from crosses, so got to stop them coming over!!
They had a blip in the 1st game against Stenhousemuir but finished them off easily in the replay.
Game could end up another stuffy draw, but always hoping for a sneaky wee win!!!!

Tough one considering how well we played second half on a Sunday although Aberdeen are a different kettle of fish to a struggling St Mirren team.
Aberdeen are big, physical, play a 442 with the aim to get the ball wide and get crosses in the box.

It's not a bad team, certainly one of the options. I'm wondering if Slivka perhaps deserves a spot in the starting lineup? He has been one of our best players lately. Also not sure about starting 3 at the back.

Yeah Slivka could easily deserve a place in there based on recent form was difficult leaving him out. Think 3 at the back would be more solid defensively with Gauld and Mallan being more attack minded we would also have oppurtunity of scoring goals

We all know Flo up top on his own doesn't work well, but any combination of four in midfield will see us over run by Aberdeen. Keep it like this for an hour then once the game opens up and there's a few more mistakes coming into it, bring on Shaw to go up top with Flo.

That probably will be the case as they have also had an extra few days of training working on tactics etc so wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen. Also couldn’t fault a decision to start Shaw after last weeks performance

This is how I would start, we will need big Marv for the midfield battle and omeonga looked very good when he came on last week and looks like he will get stuck in.
Have mallan and gauld floating about in advance areas.
Shaw deserves a start after last week but it's a very attacking line up so could get exposed In the wide areas.

Amazing on these threads how many folk suggest chucking in new signings who they’ve never seen play before [emoji38]
Same team that finished the game last week would make sense. One of our biggest problems this season is not having a settled team so changing a winning team to chuck in guys who have barely met their new team mates would be daft.

We've had a number of games in the past few months with 2 up front where we struggle to work the ball through midfield. We ended up hoofing it and Shaw and Kamberi, naturally don't respond well to that. Similar tactics today would play into Aberdeens hands.
I'd rather pack the midfield but make sure we get bodies up to support a lone striker. Maybe even start Kamberi or McNulty from the left, get them on the ball more.
If it's a 4-4-2 diamond then I hope it's Kamberi and McNulty starting together.
