Everybody just got carried away because we beat a very poor Celtc last week (including myself). As well as we played, sadly it does seem to be the exception for this side.
We're capable of playing the odd decent game but we're still not a particularly great team, and are definitely lacking in depth.
I just hope we really do make some decent signings in January, and get rid of the wasters.
Spawny for us like.

Where was the logic in making six changes for one of the form teams in the league?
Probably resting players thinking the squad guys will pump livi, at the same time keeping others fresh for the Huns and yams

We need to get a settled team and a bit of consistency. It baffles me why we have not tried to build on a settled team. 1 change is okay but not about 5.
It was a poor decision from Lennon to make so many changes today & it seemed some players were " rested "
We are not good enough to be resting players and Livi at home is worth the same amount of points as Rangers away, so its cost us today.
It absolute defeats the purpose of resting some of your better players if you can not beat Livi at home.
Poor from Lennon and its a massive ask to come away from Ibrox with 3 points.

As much as the same team as possible from the last few games, they are professional sportsmen, teams in England play 2 games per week every single week and players manage so why can't ours, we have been playing well with Ambrose and Porteous as the CH pairing and then today McGregor is put in, makes no sense

That's a hard one. On one level I agree. On another, I think I would have been raging if another couple of our "better" players had got injured and missed the next 2 games and i'd have no doubt then criticised Lennon for not making changes!! We should have had enough today to beat Livi.

its realistic
how many folk are out injured or just back in today after a long lay off

We have the team to be excellent- the Celtic game showed that. We are, however, ****ing awful. He rants and raves, gestures to opposition fans and if that’s good enough for you then well done. I just want us to get good results.

In reply to your latest post I've said nothing about Lennon on this thread never mind about him making gestures. Fwiw I think he got the team wrong today, it should have been a back 4 with Gray in for whitts imo.
I'm not sure about the rest of the team as I don't know how tired they were from the last 2 games. They must have took a lot out of the players and we no have 2 more tough games coming up.

Well today, of players who have played most recent games, Lennon has successfully rested Lewis Stevenson and Whittaker.
If he thought that we could win that game without Kamberi, he changed his mind pretty quickly.
There was no need to split up the Ambrose/Porteous partnership and there was no need to bench Kamberi. Both decisions back fired.

It would be interesting to see what Livi, Killi or St Johnstone do in these situations. Do they rest players and then completely change the shape of the team bringing in players that have hardly kicked a ball. Our players, Celtc game excepted, appear to play around half throttle. There was a tiny bit of endeavour and urgency when we scored today but for the most part this season I am watching Hibs play training games. Efe and Porteous are about the only two who have regularly played at a good level and also shown that will to win.
Did anyone think Kamberi was going to score that penalty. He looked reluctant at best to take it and it no point looked confident.
Livi are everything we are not. Organised, determined, streetwise and together. They might lack a bit of quality but they use what they have very well and have a game plan. We were once again disjointed and poorly motivated bunch of strangers.
If Lennon can take the credit for the great performance against Celtc then he also has to take criticism for changing the team and formation today and putting out 11 players, half of whom, didn't look particularly interested.

Lewis Allan playing demonstrates how badly MacLaren has done and how bad our recruitment was. I think he is out of his depth. Not trying to have a go at him as he’s doing his best. He shouldn’t be there though.
Unless we have a very, very good transfer window the season is a write off IMO.

That’s kind of my point. You don’t really know. I can’t be arsed either but I’d wager that when/if they played 3 games in 6 days, they made 3+ changes per game.
I looked at the Livi team for their last 4 games which included a 3 in 6 day spell. Goalkeeper, back three the same each game. Same shape each game and very few changes. The game they made most changes against Aberdeen away was the one they conceded most goals and the only game they lost. Not very scientific but they have a system that works for them and seem to replace players when they have to and do it in a square peg for a square hole basis.
Looking back on Killi they have hardly made a change to their team and only changed shape against Celtc away. St Johnstone barring an odd player have played the same 11 for the past 5 games with only a midfield slot changed in and out. Same defense, same formation and same GK and forwards.

You’re right, of course. With the benefit of hindsight.
I actually said similar things on page 1 at about 2.15 😉
It is easy after the game but Lennon is getting too many of these decisions wrong. Hopefully he can sort it in January but he’ll need to move on some of his own signings for starters.

what team should have played then?
we have something like 8 games in a month - we were always going to have to change it
:agree: nothing wrong with the team selection.

Just watching it back on Alba and we had good chances for Boyle, Shaw * 2 and McGregor between the 20-25 minute mark. Boyle set free by Hyndman and then Slivka. Needed to fire one of these away.
