Since we have 3 players called up to the Australia squad we have been offered the opportunity to postpone the Hearts fixture. Hibs have turned down the offer.

We beat Celtic without those 3 in the team.

If we get an injury to Kamberi or Shaw in the next games it's going to leave us very very short up front.

Boyle especially is a big miss as we have very little width with Aygepong also injured.

Interesting. Must have a plan for it that doesn't require Boyle, Milligan or Maclaren. With Gray, Hanlon, Agyepong, Mavrias, Marv and now rocky missing I might've said yes to a postponement.

Will they all still be missing for the derby though?

Terrible decision. I'm in England, with no access to a TV, on the 29th so they really should have consulted me before making such a selfish decision.

That's 2 players short of a whole team, all of whom could easily be starters IMO and make a fairly reasonable team:

Marciano
Gray Hanlon CB Mavrias
Boyle Milligan Bartley Agyepong
Maclaren ST

Agreed. I'll be in the air over the Atlantic on my way to Last Vegas.

I'd return my season ticket if I had one.

Depending on when the re arranged game would be, Hearts have a few key players missing too, they might be back by the re arranged fixture. But if we are planning on strengthening big time in January I'd have taken the postponement like!

I can just seen the threads on here now if we lose the Derby...

We better pray nothing happens to Shaw or Kamberi in next week or we really are Donald Ducked

I can see it too, if we win it , it will be all “so glad we didn’t postpone” and if we loose “oh we should have postponed” etc

Correct decision, why should we give them the benefit of potentially having additional players back in their squad plus this new guy coming in??

Correct decision in terms of many supporters probably already making financial and Work commitments to be able to attend the match on the date set

I don’t know why we didn’t take the option. Chance to get players back and a breather in a jam packed December schedule.

Crazy if we were offered a postponement and didn't take it, appreciate it would spoil some plans but from a purely football perspective, it's a no brainer.

A brave decision, but I wouldn’t have expected Hibs to make a song and dance about it. Prepare in our usual manner without too much noise and hopefully we still have plenty to see off Hearts.

To be fair, we knew Milligan and MacLaren were Australian when we signed them so there shouldn't really be any surprises. As for Boyle, although we have known about it for a few months, it is still a bit of a blow.....perhaps more so concerning the injuries rather than form. It's a brave decision not to postpone if we indeed had the option, I just hope we have a few other players back from injury if not just for confidence and psychologically for the players who are fully fit going into it. Seeing a few seasoned pros on the bench could be the boost to the players starting against hearts

Would we have noticed if their combined contributions since the last Australian game was withdrawn. Hopefully a bit of sunshine and a challenge will get them back on track as they have all been poor or non existent for a couple of months.

Maybe Sky didn't want to cover it if it was to be rearranged, meaning we'd lose out on the money.

Will be interesting to see the response of the three - might they feel a little undervalued if they interpret the non-postponement as “we’ll be fine without you”?

It's been discussed on here before, and I'm pretty certain that the home team doesn't get a fee for the game. That is something that has to change as the home team is the one losing out because TV coverage means a smaller gate.

Particularly as hardly any The Rangers and Celtc home games are on TV.

Hi Heid Yin

Boyle is the only one of the 3 who might have been useful to have around for the derby, so I'm with Neil Lennon and our club going ahead with the game.

Losing a McGinn and a Mcgeouch and an Allan for a derby would be another matter - then..definite game postponement!

If it helps to encourage decent and consistent performances out of them on their return and a "Right, I'll show you what I can do" type attitude, then all the better.

None of them have been playing well, but I just don’t think players should be putting country before club ever. Especially for Boyle, who already seems to be placing playing for Australia above Hibs. Should never be missing Hibs games for this.

We probably will however whether we have the same bargaining power as Celtic is probably open to question especially when you consider Milligan is captain and the coach will want him there from the off.

The players don’t choose when the international fixtures will be played. Neither do Hibs. Feel free to blame FIFA for that, but it’s a bit harsh having a pop at the players for that.

As for MacLaren and Milligan in particular, I’d be more surprised if they didn’t put playing for their country first.

Australia don't play their first game until 6 January in the Asian Cup so don't see why the players can't fly out day after the derby. They will still have a week training with the squad before games start.
