Well no really... just my Hibs reboot of 'Fairytale of New York', which I first shared here a couple of years ago and have updated a bit.
It's been a tough past month being a Hibbie, so a wee look back to 21/5/16 might provide a bit of festive cheer. Hibbie Christmas all ye faithful!
FAIRYTALE OF HAMPDEN PARK
It was May the 21st babe
At Hampden, Glasgow
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
About the Scottish Cup
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you
Stokes got on a lucky one
Rangers 0, Hibernian 1
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Hibees
I love you Stubbsy
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true
They've got Buckfast in their bars
They hate green, white and gold
But their songs go right through you
It's no place for the old
When Warburton first took a hand
On a cold Govan eve
He promised them
Glory was waiting for thee
You were loathsome
You were sh*tty
Second best in your own city
When the final finished playing
Lee Wallace howled out 'I'm sore'
The crossbar was swinging
All the Hibees they were singing
We celebrated Hendo's corner
Then danced through the night
The boys of the Edinburgh Hibees choir
Still singing David Gray
And the bells were ringing out
For the 21st of May
Warbuton's a bum
He's a punk
And his bread tastes like junk
Lying there claiming Wallace got hit in the head
You ****bag, you maggot
You cheap lousy f*ggot
Scottish Cup your erse
I pray God it's your last
The boys of the Edinburgh Hibees choir
Still singing David Gray
And the bells were ringing out
For the 21st of May.
Halliday could have been someone
Well so could anyone
Gray took his dreams from him
When Hendo first found you
We kept the turf with us
We put it with our own
Can’t make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you
The boys of the Edinburgh Hibees choir
Still singing David Gray
And the bells are ringing out
For the 21st of May
