The Simple Things in Life that make you smile

As an alternative to the Pet Peeves thread, and to hopefully spread a bit of cheer, what are the simple things in life that make you smile :greengrin
Or give you that Yaaassss!!!! fist pumping moment. :aok:


I'll start it off with one of my favourites:-


When you bite into a Kit Kat finger and discover it's solid chocolate.

When my daughter and girlfriend go to bed and I get half an hour just to sit quietly with a coffee and watch TV, read a book or the like.

The natural high when you finish a long run and are near the point of exhaustion.

My daughters beaming smile when I get in from work every night and you realise someone is genuinely delighted to see you. Also her ridiculous uncontrollable laugh when I blow raspberries on her stomach.

When the cat climbs up on my knee, curls up and starts purring away contentedly.

Having a big bag of M&Ms when no one else is around and being able to eat the whole pack without sharing them.

Just to lower the tone a bit -

Getting back to your own cludgie after being away on holiday or whatever.

Being able to let one rip after wriggling about trying to hold in a fart during a 2 hour client meeting.

Getting up at 7am on a Sunday morning and having precious me time with coffee and the TV for a couple of hours before anyone else is up.

Opening a packet of crisps and finding that the flavouring has been wrongly applied and is super strong.

Watching a squirrel taking ages burying peanuts in my garden, then as soon as they're done and away, magpies landing, poking around the very spot, then nicking the peanuts :-)

If I go to bed after the wife my toothbrush has toothpaste on it and ready to go. Sounds stupid but it brings a smile to my face every time.

The Friday afternoon when you’ve finished your call out week at work, with a chilled weekend on the cards

That first pint or cold bottle in the blazing sun.

Every time I step off the plane in Thailand and remember that soon I'll retire and never have to return to this cold, unfeeling, high taxed country.

My next door neighbour's dad who moved out to Thailand about 25 years ago, turned up completely confused and disoriented on her doorstep last Christmas accompanied by 2 policemen. Apparently he'd developed senile dementia and his Thai wife had put him on a plane with a wee note saying keep him.

Oh dear, that's a sad story. Of course dementia can strike anywhere and wives can be selfish snakes with tits world-wide.
