I think he got his from ABE Books. Not cheap, but IMO a preferable source to Amazon.

How much do they go for and how much is a fair price. (what price were they when published)

It's up on Amazon at £90.00, and I can't afford to pay that.

I'd go to £25 max, as I've got the other two in the trilogy. I know one of the editors at the publisher, Birlinn, so I'll try there too.
